Quote
Worst - My 1st trade ever in sim leagues was here, trading my lotto 1st for Earl Watson. That lotto 1st turned into Rex Mehta

I don't even remember that.  All I know is I drafted Mehta at 6, and I'm almost positive it was a computer pick.  Not sure why I didn't do the drafting myself that time but I'm pretty sure I didn't.

Mehta's ratings at the time of the draft were  B- D+ C- B- C+ with A potential.  I don't think there was any way to predict he would be right there with Okafor as best defensive/rebounding big man of all time, especially given his 6'8/260 size.  I certainly wouldn't have drafted him 5th if it had been me making the selection.

But yeah, if I got him for Earl Watson, that's probably the worst trade ever.

Sure is. I do remember, cause i have a .doc file with my list of players, and i would have gotten Mehta if i didnt do that trade heh. Doesnt matter, but it was the worst trade ever definitely, altough i was a complete newbie and i had no idea what i was doing back then.

yes the watson trade was pretty bad and i remember that i was pretty hard on TOM for ripping a newbie like that. The trade made no sense at all since you were rebuilding at that time.
but it isn?t true that your pick translated into mehta. you traded your pick to celtics and he traded it to the spurs. after that ivan had it and send the pick to the suns for camby.
suns picked third in the mehta draft and took gerstl at 3 Laughing and bucks took mehta with their own pick at 6.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH

well at least that should be my #1 in worst/bets moves

best move:
trading Watson for a #1 pick that ended up #6 lottery.

worst move:
trading the #6 pick AND AlJeffe (who left the Celtics as 13/7 guy then, and later exploded to be a 20/9/2.5bpg player)
for Etan Thomas (who got me one 12/13 season and the decined rapidly to retire 3 years later)

WHAT A (SHORTSIGHTED) SHAME !!!

to my defense I have to say that the Bucks were 23-38 at the time of this trade and nobody could have predicted they would finish the season 8-13 to end the season at 31-51 with the 4th worst record.

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH ...
 Bash

on a sidenote: Mehta's ratings DID suck badly then, his FBCB ratings were decent, but the prediction matched the current ratings, so no big improvement was to be expected, and A C rebounding was pretty lame, even in that 2011 draft class. His college numbers were 16ppg, 7.5rpg, 2.2bpg, about the same as Doyle Fee (who was drafted #23). But then Mehta improved 12 net ratings, the biggest jump ever in SSBA (nobody else got more than +10).

If I had held onto that pick, there's absolutely NO WAY I would NOT have drafted Lincoln Lord, btw. I remember pushing very very hard to move up in that draft since I KNEW Bods would take him ... and Lord soon became the anchor of the Nets championship teams in 20212 and 2014.

Man, I love diging in that SBBA history ...
 Cheers

TOM you never had the 6th pick in that draft that was the bucks own pick. You had the blazers pick and traded it for

Trade C Al Jefferson, PG Chase Prewitt and one draft pick to the Spurs for C Etan Thomas, SF Gerald Chapman and one draft pick

the spurs than traded the pick to the kings and the kings traded that pick to the suns who took gerstl.

And you are telling us you would have drafted Lord Lincoln Lord PG 6'5'' 219 21 C- B+ A- C D B over Rex Mehta C 6'8'' 253 22 B- D+ C- B- C+ A or Everette Strait PF 6'9'' 232 22 B C- C- B- B- A Laughing

yes, i can't remember why but i think the FBCB analysis made me believe Lord was going to be a star.

but i can remember how disappointed i was i didn't get to move up ...

Those FBCB drafts were a great idea.  Too bad they just didn't produce enough well rounded talent.  I loved being able to put in my work and get a better idea of how a player will turn out.

too bad the information from FBCB was mostly completely irrelevant, as we found out that College potential had nothing to do with FBB potential.

So the program screwed us over twice, producing bad talent AND incorrect information.

nice ...

Rex's B- / B- / C+ was B- / B+ / B after one training camp, B / A- / B+ after two, and Mehta's ratings have been all the way up to B+ / A / A.

He's never been a real offensive threat though.  I squeezed a 24 ppg average out of him one year where my team really stunk, and that was on about 43% shooting or something.  Last year was the first year he shot 47+ %

He knows no peers defensively except Okafor.   9 All Defensive Teams in 12 years and Defensive Player of the Year 4 times.  Okafor's got 10 All Defensive Teams and 5 DPOYs in 17 seasons.

Obviously one of the biggest surprise draft picks ever.
