NetsGM ranting about his selection of Kenny Walker over Len Bias got me thinking. What's your biggest SSBA mistake? What's your best SSBA trade? For those of us who have been here nearly 2 (ssba) decades now, that's potentially a lot to chose from. Nets (2006-2014):my most controversial move was the series were I traded boozer for the 3rd pick (which gave me the 2nd and 3rd picks in that draft), then traded the 3rd pick for Samuel Dalembert. I basically had my choice of Boozer, Ferry or Dalembert, and I chose Dalembert. I think most people would have ranked Dalembert 3rd at the time, but him and Okafor anchored my line for a decade. Boozer never really improved, and Ferry was great for 3 seasons, then mediocre. But that was neither the best or worst of my trades, just the most controversial. Best:Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson for Carlos Boozer, Kris Humphries and a 2006 2nd round pickThis trade had one purpose. Before SSBA started, all the Bobcats players were in the Free agent market, because FBB was created before the expansion. I was 3rd in cap room, behind the Jazz and the Hawks. By getting rid of Kidd and Jefferson's contract, I was able to dump salary (because the jazz were under the cap), and leapfrog into being the only team capable of offering Emeka a max contract. The trade turned out to be Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson for Okafor and Samuel Dalembert. Pettit was quite a bit of luck, but this trade built my dynasty. Worst:I'm not sure I have a specific worst. After getting Okafor, Dalembert and Pettit within the first year of rebuilding, I was on auto-pilot for the rest of the decade. I didn't have to take risks, I was just trying to get complimentary pieces. Pistons (2019-current)Best: It might be Sampson, but he's going to have to play a regular season game for me before I decide that. Currently it's Mike O'koren and the warriors 2020 1st round pick for Rolando Blackman. I was just looking for a defender and a shooter, but I got a 24 ppg scorer when he was the #1 option. His development brought me back to respectability. Worst:This one's easy. drafting jerome kersey (via the suns) over Vern Flemming. I still to this day picture my team with Ralph, Munson, Blackman, Flemming and Brice. I might be talking championship. He put up 23.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.4 spg and shot 48% in the latest preseason. I ended up not taking him because, at 6'5", he was a SG, and I wanted to move Blackman back to SG. (Jerome Kersey's latest sim he averaged 6.3 pts, 5.3 rebounds in 30.2 minutes, if you're wondering). So, what's your best and worst?

My memory is short, so I'll go with -- Worst: Sampson / Bol Best: Drexler / Macy Other notables: The first trade ever in the post-twan league, essentially Childress for a mid-first rounder, because the Hawks didn't like Childress's 'fro Big and controversial -- Hughes + Picks for Marion. This was the trade made it a rule that trades could be accepted and would be enforced before posting on the completed trades thread. Raps tried to sneak in there, but I bitched. Yaowza!

Worst was probably trading Tobey Bailey and a first for Carmelo. Bailey's ratings hadn't increased in the first 2 training camps, and the 2nd season he was shooting about 43% and 30% from 3 so I moved him to try to win immediately. I don't know about my best move cause I think the computer drafted Mehta for me at 5th Maybe getting Michael Gragg and having him explode last season and improve his scoring and defending this training camp.

Worst Move?
EASY! 2018: Deciding to offer Barton O'Connell a 4 year max contract instead of the full length. He was an SSBA All-League First Teamer and was averaging near 25 and 10 per night. Had I offered the max deal I would have still had Barton AND would have still been able to sign Devin Harris with the cap room I had left. My backcourt would have been unstoppable!!!
Best Move?
Again EASY! This one is 2 fold, par tof the same deal. I traded centre Bob Pollard (then B- B- C B- B- B) along with other pieces, to the Sonics for Kirilenko. I had recent bought Pollards true potential and it was in the 35-45 range..!!! Then after the trade I picked up from the free agent pool ALLEN COLES to make up my roster... anyone want to take a look at Coles now..? Not bad for a FA pickup!!!

Wow... I honestly don't remember all that. But the best was all the way in the beginning where I traded for Gordon and Chandler. That trade started the great Clipper years. Worst... don't remember. It was not terribly bad, but I did regret trading Livingston for Childress.
Btw... I think I should nominate some Clipper players for the hall of fame sometime.

i don?t remember them all but some good ones are: Trade SF Andre Iguodala, PF Billy Joe Kim, PF Austin Croshere and one draft pick to the Hawks for SF Carmelo Anthony and SG J.R. Smith In this season i had already 4 A defenders in my starting lineup named Artest, Fisher, JO and Mutombo and added Melo to Redd for more scoring. Melo at that time was 21 best FA pickup possible Quincy Peters 3years in a row worst decision possible not trading JO for Dalembert, Okafor and a pick

Worst move: Not signing Brice to a max deal.
Should not be rebuilding right now had I made it.
Best move? Again, revolving around Brice
sending: Ray Allen and something
for receiving: Arenas + 1st round pick (used to draft Brice)

Best Trade for the Warriors... Easy
Trade PF Stromile Swift, SG Kobe Bryant, C Chris Thorne and 2 draft picks to the Supersonics for PF Dirk Nowitzki, SG James Posey and PG Steve Blake
2nd would be my trade for Kirk Hinrich... Just do not remember what it was.
Worst Trade for me Right now, I think it was trading Phil Hubbard to the Nets for Bennet Fuqua and Adam Fortson.
Best Free Agent Move Signing Don Ruffin to the MLE. He was a defensive force at PF for me for quite a few years.
Worst Free Agent move Letting Kirk Hinrich go. I misunderstood what a max contract for him would be at the time, and had planned to build around Iguodala and Kirk. After Kirk left, my team went into the lottery.

There are so many... The worst move(s) in RaptorGM history... 1. http://forums.ssbabasketball.com/index.php?topic=266.0Traded Jalen Rose and Rafael Araujo for Michael Finley and Pavel Podkolzine (SSBA 2005). ---In my defense, Jalen was a huge contract and he stunk and Finley was a 18+ppg player in his two years as a Raptor. Pavel had a long and nice career....but oh yeah, I just looked at the Hall of Fame page. The best move(s) in RaptorGM history... 1. http://forums.ssbabasketball.com/index.php?topic=447.0---It was small but I still remember it because at that time the CelticsGM was BasketballJesus from RealGM. Mo pete went on to average 5.5/3.5 in the next season. Ended up trading the pick for Cassel, an all-star, and another pick that got me Lorenzo Ellis, so in the end I didn't dominate the deal, but it was still pretty nice. 2. http://forums.ssbabasketball.com/index.php?topic=1387.0---Probably my favorite and what I consider to be my very best. Traded Drew Gooden, Carlos Boozer, Lorenzo Ellis and a first for Yao Ming, Peja Stojakovic. I never won a Championship with Yao/Peja (and Davis/Mihm) but I still don't know why. I should have. 3. http://forums.ssbabasketball.com/index.php?topic=6760.0--Traded Sleepy Floyd, Byron Scott and a pick for Magic Johnson. Flyod and Byron are still going strong, but Magic is a top player in the league.

I prefer to think of my comments as an open disclosure and honest evaluation of my thought process on drafting this year rather than a rant, Derek, but since you ask.... Best Move:Obviously the Milner trade with the Bulls. I've never had a more impactful player in all my FBB years. Can't entirely remember the return, but it was mostly cap space and young "maybes". The Gminski for McHale trade ranks up there, and the Tobey one should in time. Drafting Kyle Macy 13th, then letting him run the point despite his C+ handles. Worst Move:The Lord/Maggette trade with the Grizz. An early and maybe overly-zealous effort at reshaping the team to be my own, rather than what Derek left me. There was a Lord trade I didn't make which probably would have been better for me. Walker over Bias has potential. There was a Gminski trade I should have made over the one I took.... Not taking Macy's max offer ended up being a big goof - though coming off a 12.8ppg season, not being as effective at the 2 with Milner around, and thinking he'd resign based on his high loyalty v. greed - all made perfectly good sense at the time.

Best - Trading for Hoffa (he took me to finals and retired) and Yao (he brought me a title and retired).
Worst - My 1st trade ever in sim leagues was here, trading my lotto 1st for Earl Watson. That lotto 1st turned into Rex Mehta (and i would pick him as well if i didnt make that stupid trade).
