Hornets trade:
J.R. Smith Alex Garcia Tim Pickett 2008 1st
for
Josh Childress
Since the Hornets are $688,218 under the cap, they will use this towards the trade to make it work.

agreed, maybe not a great deal, but a 1st round pick, and I get Josh Childress out of here (I just hate that fro', I have no idea why) and I get a good young prospect in JR Smith...

doesn't work.
when you're under the cap, you need to have enough cap space to absorb the entire salary, not get within 15% (15% only applies to teams over the cap). The Hornets need to add $254,016.

My fault, I thought I could use my cap space like salary. I can add Pickett to make it work; you can post if you agree.

Hawks are caking up their opponents' schedules, but being smart in knowing they have no chance this season to attempt to be even respectable and pretty much, by this trade I see them securing a promising rebuilding process...

If Childress were in this year's draft, he'd be a close second to Dean as the best small forward in there. He would definitely be a lotto pick.
I think I'll be a pretty solid team by 2008 considering my youth and my favorable cap position, so I am hoping that trading that pick won't come back to haunt me. Smith is an interesting prospect though.
