What:
The money system will allow a commish to accumulate (and use) SSBA $ to perform various functions, including finding a players potential, reducing and extending contracts, other various functions.

Why:
This was something I always liked in Celtics league, but I didn't want it based off of the quality of your team or the quality of your players, because it can help the "rich get richer" mentality.  I also didn't want to promote articles, and be in a position of "grading" a GM's contribution in that way.

What I did want is to promote activity and improvement.  An active GM is going to get substantially more $ than an inactive GM.  And team's who improve from the prior season are going to be rewarded.

The purpose of including to reveal true potential is to help mitigate some of the risks of the draft.

Differences between this $ system and DJSL (for those in both leagues):
- There is no being rewarded for articles, player achievements or team achievements (except improvement)
- There is added award money for teams that improve from the prior season
- You CAN find out the true potential of any player in the league, a player in the draft, on your team, in free agency, or on another team.  Teams in the NBA can spend money to scout a draftee, scout a free agent, or scout someone else on another team.

Misc.:
The values may be changed in the next few days, but this is the framework for it.  Also, players trying to get "perfect attendance" for this year's regular season can do so simply by getting the next 6 weeks, I will not penalize for missed sim's before this one.  However, you also won't get the $10 for sim's if you missed.

If a new GM joins up in midseason, he only has to get perfect attendance for the time he's GM.  Think of it as a "newby bonus".  GM's will inherit the bank of the prior GM's.

Discuss.

Not a bad idea. I liked how things were, but this should freshen things up a bit. Maybe I just fear change... Smile

I was about to say this sucks and systems like this never work until I read it. I thought it was going tp be about writing dump articles and stuff. I'm glad its set up the way it is. I am looking foward to this.

I like it...gives hawks/knicks/etc another chance to move up the ranks and keeps those on the top on their toes.

halleluah (spelling?), I have a chance other than trading everyone away for nothing and starting over.  Too late now, but for the future, I love this idea, and it gives some of us with the high lotto picks a chance (Tanner Mad )

Don't worry, I basically stole so many of your rules before that, you can take whatever you can ...
 Wink

I didn't invent the money system, i got the basic idea from other leagues like the immortal "A+" league ASL, and modified it, primarily to get activity up (at a time when we had 3 posts a day or so)

But i think it has been a surprising success so far as it allows for a lot more player movement and change, which keeps things interesting.

One thing i will most likely have to rework is to reduce the amount of money flowing round. Right now we have 42.880 shillings waiting to be spent in the DJSL league, that's enough cash to scout half of a complete draft class (and this with only about 15 GMs regularly requesting cash (and 6 more frequently). If ALL earned money would be requested - and i mean the game achievements, the rest is automatic - too much $$$ would be available.

I dont like the money that is given for trades. So do I have to start trading if I want money? A bit strange to me.
Everyone here in this league knows that the reason why I got a championship is because I stuck together with the same team and give it time to work. That was my idea of making it to a championship... and it worked. Do I get payed for that? No. Not in this system. But gm's do get payed because they trade players away every 2 seconds because "he did not live up to his standards".

Please explain this to me.

Other than that, I like the idea. Seems fun, but since there are no money rewards for achievements, it is not totally fair. For example: it is easier to improve if your team is wack. I think it is equal if a crappy team impoves by 10 games or a team that wins 60 games improves by 5 games.

I dont want to be a rebel or anything. I DO LIKE the idea! I am just being the devil's advocate here.

completing a trade is worth $25.  In order to get the money to scout someone's potential, you would have to complete eight trades to get that money.  Somebody who just posts their depth charts and is active in the offseason will get $320 right off the bat in a season.   Wh would be roughly 13 trades.

Trading is certainly not necessary and you get virtually no penalty for not doing it.

One of the main goals is to really help those who are less fortunate.  Also, you DO get rewarded by being on a winning team.  Your reward is to get to back to back finals and be a champion.  Would you give that up for the ability to scout a rookies potential?
