Place your votes here.

It would be really nice to get 29 votes.

I just hope this is not considered a bad joke ...

To be honest, I made a horrible job preparing our team for TC - the outcome was a major disappointment (I had to fire my complete trainer staff yesterday - finding a new one is another task on my list now) and the season is probably a desaster waiting to happen ...

It was great that the three youth-oriented teams (Sonics, Hawks, Celtics) got nominated.  However, could you really expect somebody to vote for either choice when the Jazz, Rapors and Pacers were options??

Considering this is for last year, I think it was a joke (no offense Celtics)

It depends on some factors:
- winning with the best team is not hard, assembling the best team is hard
- getting a kickstart with a superstar is always nice ...and makes the job a lot easier (like the Pacers still have JO and Ron from the original team, the Jazz still Kirilenko)
- winning with youth is way harder to  accomplish than winning with veterans

so I agree that a deep playoff run favors the three named teams heavily, but the GM work at the bottom is by no means easier and has every right to be selected here as well ... Smile

Which makes it amazing.  When I took over the nets I had Kidd, RJ (who was a B- B- offensively with B- defense), no cap room, and literally nobody worth starting at the other 3 positions (something like vaughn, mourning, and buford), and within 2 years I had 53 wins, and I got no sniff of GM of the year either year  Rolling Eyes

It was no joke about CelticsGM. The reason why I vote for him is because I think he did a good job with a team that had to start all the way from scratch. Indeed he did not have a good record last season, but I do believe that he built the team in a way that he will definitely improve next season.
Another BIG reason is because I like to read all his funny threads. That itself deserves an award.

NetsGM, I agree that you should have gotten a nomination as well. You did a great job turning the Nets in the team they are now. But not everybody gets the credit. Look at my Clippers. We get treated like the Clippers in real life. "Yeah they are good... but they still remain the Clippers for crying out loud!" Very Happy
Over the years, I added Chandler, Kwame, Childress, Gordon and Garces. We became 2-time Pacific Division champs and had a top 5 record in the league last season. And the first season I was still in the lottery (I think Smile )

Yeah, you did a great job.

(although it's beginning to look like trading livingston could have been a big mistake).

Well, I gotta say, as conceted (Sp?) as it may sound, I'm dissapointed at my lack of votes. I was just 1 win away from the finals (acd it was an overtime loss to boot). I think that the Yao trade was one of the best trades that the SSBA has ever seen.

I agree. Even making it to the conference finals with Eddie House in a prominent role warrants some kind of award.  Laughing

But losing in a game 7 at home to a 6th seed sure took some of that votes away (as evident by seeing the finalists leading the votes - and only rightfully so)

Last some thanks to Amsterdam where my biggest fan is located: I like it ... and still find it totally unfair to all other GMs who gave their best. Least you forget I did not start at zero but broke up a team with one superstar (as I found out) and some overpaid but fine role players.

While I managed to get the cap back on track I'm definitely responsible for the bad record too. No way would I have lost more than 60 games with Pierce, LaFrentz, Traylor and the Korver/Allen tandem. And since I'm a VEEEEEEERY long shot to even make this years playoffs (need evidence? my 2011 1st is still the hottest asset around), it is still undecided if my way is a successful way.  Cool
