OK Mr.Rossow..

We wish you were here. I take that back.  Bash Bash

Losing a 30ppg player and still a top three three-four team in the east makes me wonder what could have been if Rossow was here.

Interesting CELTICS notes from presim 2:

Wyatt Funderburke (a poor man's Parker Archibald I called him at draft time) put up 32 points, 4 steals and 2 blocks (+ 4TO) on 13-22 shooting. Against the Hornets. Against Macy. Against the reigning SSBA MVP. Lead us to victory. Preseason, I know, but look out ...
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/2-2.html

Nice statline from Mr. Arizin against the Hawks: 35pts and 3 steals in 19(!!!) minutes. Poor Scoonie Perdue allowed 57 points from Wyatt and Arizin, including 9 of 10 from 3pt land. Harper added a 23/12/15 triple dbl against a NBDL PG for that matter. You gotta love preseason sometimes.
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/3-1.html

Clayton Zollner with a double/double from the bench. Only against some backup C, but nice to know he can actually shoot 14 times in a game, plus rebound and block some shots.
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/4-1.html

Clayton - now starting - did follow up that performance with another career game. 20/15/4 and 3 blocks against Trey Wooten, who is a class higher in the big men ranks. Also, Wyatt played the European Jordan to a pat. Boys, you surprise me ...
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/5-4.html

Wyatt Funderburke's performance against A A- B Marcus Kersey on both ends of the court makes me wonder if he really should play backup. Apart from getting outclassed by MJ on day 1 he pretty much was the offensive spark in our game and the main reason we're 5-1 so far.
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/7-9.html

The revenge of the Scoonie. Somewhat ...  Smile
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/10-9.html

Once again, isn't it amazing when you have a big man that can shoot 16-16 from the charity stripe? Munson may be old, but he can still get it done on more than a few occasions ...
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/12-5.html

In his most surprising performance Wyatt carried the Celtics to a rare road win in Canada. Against Mike Woodson he more that held ground and ignited the team. Still, 19 missed freebees from the dinosaurs helped a lot, too ... Wink
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/14-6.html

A 2nd starter went on IL and the rest of the preseason was more or less a wash. Still, would have loved to find out how Calvin matches up against Sir Charles. I know for sure Cedric doesn't very well, to say the least ...
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/15-6.html

Isiah 0 - Wyatt 1. But who held Earvin to 0-9 shooting? Geiger or Clayton. And this might be the question for starters this season as well.
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/16-1.html

That Cedric Ceballos had 19 points, 17 rebounds, 8 steals and 7 turnovers against Xavier McDaniel might tell us more about Xavier McDaniel than about Ced. Still, the pot seems to be there, the carelessness as well ...
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/17-2.html

Well, now I know how Calvin matches up against Sir Charles: not bad. Nice to know ...
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/18-5.html

Career high scoring from Wyatt (29), career best passing from Embry (16), and a near triple double from Munson. Hey, you got to take overtime road wins when you get them, no matter who's the opponent.
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/19-4.html

And finally, ANOTHER career game from Wyatt Funderburke against MAGIC JOHNSON's Nuggets. 39 points on 16-30, 4 rebounds and 8 assists in a 17 point win. He also held Magic down to 37 ...  Laughing
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/20-2.html

Overall a 12-6 preseason, good for the higher seeds in the East. Wyatt close to 20ppg (and a happy GM finding out he didn't waste that pick), Natt with 18/9 from SF, Derek Harper leading the league in steals at 3.6 per game, and Munson with 12/11 and top 10 in blocks with 2.9 per. I guess the balance is there, now the fine tuning starts ...

... and the wait, as i looks like we'll have a LOT of time to look at those numbers till the real games begin.
 Cheers

9-4 and we looked pretty good!

Rookie Trent Wright seems to prefer playing Centre and MJ is playing like a man possesssed (not to many TO's either)

A few small tweeks here and there and we're ready to roll

Moby Zollner looks ready to bust out in a pleasant way; Sean Elliot is solid all around (though admittedly I didn't check matchups, so he mighta been roasted often); Dial is a superb backup at the 4/5, so sometime this year I'll start working my young bigs into bigger and better roles; Timmy's TO's continue to bug the living hell out of me; great record. Promising year ahead - and I'm gonna need all the good karma I can muster the way the East always plays out.

Very nice results when playing my starters:

Welp/Corzine averaging 8 blocks a game is tremendous.

Manning improves his scoring for the fourth straight year.

Hawkins looks to have regained his form, and his outside shot.

Pearl Washington (who had a weekly award in the first preseason) is a very good starting PG.

Very high hopes for this team.  Very high hopes.

(Oh yeah, Larry Bird is coming halfway through the season to be a deadly sixth man!!!!)
