Nets agree, good working with you too, Kings.

*This works in the checker, I don't think there are any restrictions on anyone, and I have the extra roster spot to take on the extra guy - so should be good to go right away.

After acquiring Cummings, I'm over the cap this offseason, so I thought I might as well load up. I want to be as deep as possible up front, and Wooten certainly will help in that regard - I'm pretty comfortable with him having had him in Jersey before: three strong shotblockers is better than two. Didn't really want to give up two quality swingmen in the one deal which might hurt in the short term, but you have to give to get, and I suspect that this deal will help both teams in the end. Profit will just take on a bigger role for me in the interim. I anticipate that whoever I get with the Wiz pick will be better than Majerle and that I'll get two bonus cheap years - which will help.

**Jazz: I think you're looking at a very old thread that was bumped by some wierd post.

kings please post a reason for this trade. giving up a lotto pick and some solid backups for capspace and a backup is way too much imo.

He can speak for himself, but I don't know what has Pacers/Celts all worked up?

He traded a grossly overpaid backup big taking 15mpg of PT who has almost negative value due to his three-year deal (with two guys on his team who can easily replace his minutes, making the 4/5 his position of strength) for a swingman who can back up three positions and who could quite conceivably start at two for him (despite what Tom says, MRob when starting can still put up 17+ppg with good defense at any of three positions). The second part, is the lotto pick for Majerle: well, he's getting a SF who is a very strong defender already and solid on offense still with plenty of upside, and I'm getting a lotto pick from one of the worst drafts of recent years. Cripes, I might not even get a Majerle out of it.

Fisher and Daumeyer are throwins for contract purposes, and not exactly the definition of "solid backups" - not anymore than 10 guys currently sitting on the FA scrap heap.

Two other quick points:
1) Kings is in a win-now mode - Robinson and Majerle help him do that more than Wooten does, given his roster composition.
2) And yes, I now realize I contradicted myself in my evaluation of Majerle v. the pick in subsequent posts: the first comment was my optimism talking; the second one was after I checked what the 1990 draft actually looked like, which makes me a little less confident in what I'll get with the pick.

there is a reason that mrob never started on your team over dan and that dan lost every PT after your trades. if you think you can?t get at least a decent starter in the next draft with this pick please trade it to me Laughing
and by the way i have no clue what the next draft will look like.

and if the kings really needed an expiring they could have buyed out thurl pretty easy in the offseason. wooten is 28 and only on a 3 year deal while the kings are over the cap in all 3 years. so there was no need to get rid of his contract. and as a mav wooten produced 10/9.7 and 3blks i would call that decent starter material not an overpaid backup.

Will first off I thought the Draft Preview was already updated. Looking at it the draft didn't look so good so I didn't mind giving it away. As for Wootten he is an overpaid backup on my team, I have Gilliam who he would never start over and I have Bailey to replace him. Right now Bailey is putting up better #'s. Wootten contract didn't bother me but getting 2 players with good def and can play different spots on my lineup is a good score. I'm a defensive minded GM and this brought my team more def to my 1, 2, & 3 spot.

I don't know why everybody getting so upset, if you wanted the pick you guys should of sent me some offers. I did give a good pick up (if this draft ends up being a good draft, which it doesn't look like) but nobody really important left my team. Now I should get more scoring out of my 2 spot and not loose any Def. I had another deal that I would of taken over this one but the nets beat him to it.

I've made some questionable trades this season, Pacers our trade was one of them. I think it was a good trade but others thought I got robbed. The only trade I regret was the trade for Bradley, he is not what I was hoping for. Some trades are going to work out some aren't. I'm sure alot of you guys thought the kings weren't going to make the playoff after some of the trades I've made. I'm 10 games over .500 which is surppising to me too, but so far it is working.

MRob never started on my team, because I liked Fortson/MJ and since then Timmy better in the backcourt, and he was the perfect backup at three spots.
And good lord, of course Dan lost PT to the SF I acquired....who wouldn't start Cummings over him?
I played Saperstein because he's a good looking prospect, and very efficient at that spot.
Majerle was good last year, good in both PS' but started off slowly this year - and is coming around. He's a solid player - and Kings is not the first one to show interest in him.
Wooten can start - sure - and be OK. But he was backing up on the Kings (and replaceable with his other two big guys) and will be a backup for me (he's not better than Dial/Pryz). The pick might get me a starter, but bad drafts do happen - and this looks like it could be one.
I don't see this as being a bad trade for the kings.
Kings aren't far off cap flexibility now. MRob is a good fit for him, so is Majerle. I don't see the problem, either....
*And as Kings said, if you want the pick, make an offer for it. I'll get back to you right after I see the draft preview.

thanks for the answer kings. some things are now clear to me. i am sure some would have offered you more for the wiz pick if a trade block would exist. or you could wait till the preview is up at least before trading a lotto pick. i still think you overpaid for nets players.

MRob started on my team, 2 seasons ago when he was better in most categories.
I decided not to resign him since he has little value in terms of wins.

Since that time robinson has been in FA for the past 5 seasons. He's such a mediocre stiff nobody offers more than a 1yr deal to him since that's his only value: a big expiring.

Wooten alone has double the value of MRob. Career hig 32/21/12 blocks (!!!)

The pick makes this one fishy ...
