How is it possible that okafor is already signed for 5 years 71 mill? Shouldn´t he be on his rookie contract like Howard, Gordon and the rest.

Select your team by making a post here. I will then change your username to reflect the team you now have. The sim is currently before the free agency period of the 2005 season, meaning we have to run free agency, run training camp, then we're at the 2005 season.

NOTE!
the sim doesn't have the capacity to add the charlotte bobcats. As such, all their players have been added to the free agent pool. That means there is a fairly decent center with no bird years waiting to be signed. Take this into consideration when selecting what team you want to chose.

The teams will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. In order to be fair, I will wait 24 hours before selecting my team. Beginning saturday, I will begin recruiting players from outside locations.

I then cleared cap room (I only had 5 million to begin with) by trading Jason Kidd for Carlos Boozer, and signed Emeka.

And considering that JKidd did not play as well as you would have thought, a great play by the Nets...

Jason Kidd played very, very good.  And they needed a pg much more than another pf (with kirilenko already on their team).

Plus I gave them Richard Jefferson.

Boozer at pf, Kirilenko at sf, no pg or Kirilenko at pf, jefferson at sf, kidd at pg?

I'd say they made the right move.

Kidd + RJ > Boozer.

The key, for me, was sending more salary than I received.  there were about 5 teams in the league with cap room, and I think 4 of those teams had more room than me, I had to find the one in need of a pg who could absorb salary.  Had they retained Hughes I think they could have had a team that's near championship contention.

But I wasn't going to try to rebuild my team (I only had 2 legitimate players and little cap room) with a 30 year old pg making 15+ million per.

I was a little worried that some other team might be able to dump some salary and beat me to emeka.

But the results speak for themselves... That talent did not mesh well at all, for some reason.  Still have no idea why...  I though Utah was going to trample the West...

I think Kirilenko is much better at the SF spot then the PF spot, especially at 225 lbs...   His defense was still great, but his offense suffered...

What did Utah win?  47 games?

After having  3/5 of their starting lineup acquired either just before the season or during the season (Hughes)?

I would have given it more time before calling it a failure.

Well, the program does not care about how long the players have played together, does it?
RJ played very well at the SF spot, but AK did not play as great at the PF spot.  He only shot 44%, and with a B+ from the SF spot, this year he may hit over 50%.
Hughes also only hit 43% from the field, and Okur 38%.
JKidd had good individual stats, but it did not seem like he helped his teammates increase their fg%.  That is what I mean when I say that JKidd did not play as well as I expected...  With that lineup, I thought Utah would win 60 games...

I'm not sure if the program does take into account how long they've played together.

I've seen my team improve in years without any significant changes to ratings, however.

I think you might be inferring a little too much from fg%

Will be interesting to see if a team that stays together will get better over time...  Especially since I have 5 of 9 core guys back this year, and 4 out of my 5 starters Wink

I may be putting too much into fg%, but that is an important stat for a good PG, imo...
I know that your favorite is ballhandling (at least it appears to be), but a pg that can bring his team's FG% up is my favorite pg type...

I think you're putting too much importance on a pg's effect on the entire team's fg%.

It could also have been greatly affected by how he had his settings.

Really?  That is interesting... I hope a good PG can improve your teams ability to score, otherwise they are much less important then I thought.

Actually, the settings thing is why I stopped choosing mine.  My team played much, much better when I did not interfere.. lol
