Wow...
I know Shotblocking is a valuable skill, but Robinson is alot to give up for a fairly one-dimensional shotblocker like Manute...

Manute's per 30 minute stats (which isn't even starters minutes on a slow-paced team) is 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks. And he's 20 with a B potential.
Did I overpay? Probably. But I needed his skillset more than I needed Robinson's skillset. Robinson's a very, very good player. I love his complete game. But I found him to be a little superfluous with Rolando, who I do value more. I found the only way to have them both get enough shots was to change to an outside focus, and that limited charles. Terrell Wu also disappointed me a bit. He's not a bad player (borderline starter, good sub), but his defense isn't quite what I was hoping for.
shotblocking from the center position is probably the attribute I value most in this league. I have someone who I feel can be one of the best in the league for the next 10 years, and I was willing to overpay.

I also get to move Rolando back to SG, which I think is his better position (both offensively and defensively).

Manute actually showed a decent offensive game as a starter. And his scouted potential is accurate. I had a bunch of people interested in Manute, but MikeRob fit my team really well. I needed an SG. |

If Manute will become one of the best [CENTERS] in this league, something is seriously wrong with our draft file.
If Manute becomes one of the better [SHOT BLOCKERS] in the league, that's fine.
I doubt there has ever been a C more limited offensively than Manute in the history of the NBA

something is seriously wrong with our draft file. for the 1,023rd time, we are not trying to recreate nba history. He's now played 41 games in his SSBA career. Evaluate him on that and not basketball-reference. Evaluate draftees based on their attributes, not on basketball-reference. I agree with the first part, but his per minute rebounding and scoring aren't very out of line with most bigs - which, since I haven't paid much attention to him and was skeptical early on - surprises the hell out of me. Robinson is the most talented player in the deal overall - but Bol has a chance to be more impactful. And since the Bulls now are kinda without a shotblocking presence, while I like it for both teams, I'd give the edge to Pistons, too. |
