I was looking at Mercers profile and noticed that he was a hometown boy from Chicago. Is there any advantage to having a player play in his hometown?

I would guess (not positive) that it increases his loyalty rating.

Yeah thats what I was assuming. That would be sweet if it actually affected the players performance

I'm pretty sure it only has effect when it comes time for contract extensions/free agency
