Bulls trade
Sergio Patterson
Colin Newell
Sergio Patterson

Magic trade
Caleb Anderson

I agree. I trade a position I have a surplus at for a position I have a real need for. In addition to his strong defense I need scoring and hopefully Anderson can repeat his very efficient 17 ppg from 2 years ago.

Wait, what?

It was posted within 24 hours of him being resigned and he's the only one being traded, what's the problem?

no, Bulls are right.

Caleb Anderson was part of a sign and trade between Magic and Pacers. That makes him an ordinary player in this league without FA restrictions now.

He can be traded on his own without waiting period.

And all the players from the Bulls were on their roster too.

well Celtics are right since Caleb was acquired in a trade, the rules for trades now allow it since he is the only one traded.
In fact we have no clear rule if a player acquired in a sign and trade deal is now free of FA restrictions or not.
And my second fault was that the deal would have to wait till day 51 if the FA restrictions are still in place.
maybe bods can help us out here.

The rules go by how a player was acquired, so I would say that he falls under the traded player restrictions, not the FA restrictions.

If we try to hold a player to both restrictions, it just over-complicates things IMO.
