The Good -- Suns and Rockets really did well, particularly the Suns. The Suns got the two pieces they needed to fill out their starting rotation, with Magloire being one of the more promising young PGs around (and definitely worth his contract). Whether this will translate to wins remains to be seen, of course. The Warriors also came out looking good, resigning top players. In my shotblock-loving eyes, Thurmond should have (and would have, if I had cap space) gotten a max deal, so nice signing there. The Bad -- Kelvin Ransey and Kevin McHale are both suspect max candidates, imo, with Ransey being a TO machine, and McHale playing average D while only scoring 16.4 ppg. I also find the Pistons' Brice signing to be a little strange, considering their youth movement. Not a terrible signing, but weird. The Ugly -- Who the hell is Eric Wu? That guy wasn't even on my radar.
I got what I wanted out of this FA -- plenty of trade filler, and a solid backup PG in Julius Russell. He has almost a 5/1 a/to ratio, and shot very well last season, so hopefully he'll be a good contributor behind Stockton.

Thanks.... And very glad you did not have cap space But a Max deal for Thurmond? Obviously, I like him alot. And he is the 2nd best per minute shotbocker in the league. But until he stays on the court for more then 32 mpg, he really does not even deserve the contract I gave him....

Well, I'm very biased about shotblocking... Thurmond is only 23, and still has B potential. Judging by the great improvement in shotblocking in the last few years, chances are pretty good that he could add a few tenths to that per game average.

Really glad i could fill up the roster after Day 1. I got two quality players that I'm highly familiar with in Sura and Meyers. Meyers was the perfect fit for me since i needed a little something extra at SG/SF in limited minutes and he's one of the best guys I've had who can produce the most in little time. My only fear with Sura is a major rating drop but he has produced very well as a backup and is still a very capable starter. Now barring TC catastrophe, I have the same team as last year with some added pieces in Cage and Meyers that hopefully can take me over the top. I would like to see Thomas and Vandeweghe/Theus improve again this TC

12 ppg 10.5 rpg 2.2 apg 0.9 spg 1.6 bpg 1.6 topg that's what 27 year old eric wu can do i hope he can improve with his potential...probably over paid him so much...but he can play

I'm happy to have landed Magliore for a decent price, compared to what someother guys got. he's still young with nice ratings and production, and he still has b potential. Siegel Will provide me with def and rebounding, which is something I lacked last season. I still have over 8 milion to add a couple of backup bigs, maybe take a look at my sf spot, and some depth in the backcourt behind Bradley.
P.S. Thanks for all the GM's that complimented me on the way FA started for me. hopefully it does translate to me getting back in the playoff race out West

I am glad to have Lincoln Lord back, even if i had to overpay him. At least its only for 3 years.
I am also glad to get Vice back, who served as a great backup for my team last season.
I am even happier getting Gaylor, who will become my starting sg, which i desperatly needed.
I also got Martin back, who i hope will improve a bit and play as a decent backup for me.

Shit...I can't believe someone offered the max for Wu...I offered him a 4 year deal starting at 10 mil, thought that for sure would be enough to hold on to him. I guess that was my mistake, but I don't think he is worth that much. I do think he is a very good all-around player, who is still relatively young at 27 and may continue to improve. Well, the Cavs chances of a strong playoff push in the next couple years does not look so good anymore. The rest of the crew is aging, now may be the time to finally rebuild.

yea, that's the problem. We, the (former) owners know so much about a players value, we hesitate to overpay too much. We still do, but within reasonable boundaries. And them some team free of any cost-cautiousness throws nearly max money at these guys ... and they are gone. But i tend to believe that sometimes you are probably better off NOT killing your salary structure for a guy who isn't even a starter yet ... or is it that I only keep telling myself to get over the loss ?

Happy to get Brice. Sure, he's not young, but he's still in his prime. Sure, that contract's going to look bad in 4 years, but he won't be in that contract for more than 4 years (I'll buy him out). I now have A defenders to anchor my wings, and I have a 21 year old PG with A potential to take over for Brice when he begins to decline.
I think I'm a shotblocking C away from contention.
