Spurs trade

C Jamaal Magloire
Spurs 2017 2nd
Spurs 2018 2nd
200 GM points

Celtics trade
PG Nathaniel Van Exel
200 GM points

Spurs & Celtics buy a trade exception to increase NvE's salary to 10.4mio temporarily and make the trade work.

Spurs agree.  And want to restate that the $200 each is to pay for the trade exception.

the way you would typically do this is;
Celtics send $200 to spurs
Spurs spend $400 on trade exception.

If you put 200 under each team, it looks like you're trading 200 to each team Smile

... which would make a whole lot of sense.

Well, I had to overpay to get a Boozer replacement, but $200, that's reasonable. I feel with Sampson/Strait/Magloire and Doleac/Roof as insurance i'm set up front. Rebounding and shot blocking might be down from last year, but i hope that german guy makes up for it ...

What do you mean you overpay for Magloire.  You only giving up Nick Van Exel wanna be and $200.  I say you got him cheap.  Also Celtics I think you are really close to the hard cap by adding Magloire.  Hope you did you math homework before the trade.

In fact I exceed the hard cap by 1.3 mio, but that's the price to pay. Even when Boozer had resigned there was little chance to stay below with some minor contracts to follow. Just that it happens so early in FA hurts a bit ...

overpay .... lol what a joke
you get the better player plus 2nd rounders and you also pay only half the money. that is pretty cheap imo.

IMO second rounders are a waste...especially when the new lower cap kicks in.

Also Celtics are pushed over the hard cap and lose flexibility in future deals as well as possibly losing their 2016 first.  That has to be considered when looking at the cost.

From my point of view I give up an aging big man (4th on my depth chart) with 3 years remaining for a backup PG with an expiring, dump future 2nds, and reduce current salaries by $5 mil.
