Why I did it (public statement): Mo Pete is a decent player with a respectable outside game and B potential. With Davis being moved to Philly, I needed to find a guard to supplement McKie and I dare venture that a McKie-MoPete combo is better than the Davis-Welsch one I was running previous.
What hurt was giving up the pick. Granted I realize it'll most likely be a top-10 pick, but what was necessary (or at least in my mind) was finding that guard. Welsch was an extraneous player with Korver coming over, so it was more like I traded my pick to the Raps anyway.
Plus, I just made a smart move to rid myself of Blount's contract. Maybe I got a little money-hungry and a little excited with all that money freed up after this year. A guy can make a stupid move now and then, right
