Jesus H friggin christ.  As if he didn't have a good enough frontcourt already.

Well, it's a good thing I didn't break up my team.  Because I'm now the underdog.

Now, clearly this doesn't seem to make a lot of sense seeing that I just traded for Pau Gasol. But before I launch into my full comments on the trade, I will say this: I had already accepted the Yao deal before I even talked to the Magic about the possibilites of a sign and trade with Gasol. I wanted to just keep Yao and get Gasol, but I am a man of my word.

And one of the reasons I did the trade: Give Bods a little more competetion - if only for a year, what with Big Ben being 36 - so that there wouldnt be any breaking up of teams nonesense Smile

But of course, I also did it because it was the right deal to complete my youth movement. Assuming Garcia becomes the starter I expcet him to, my starters will be Swift (24) Garcia (23) Dickau (26) Melo (26) Max (22)

Keeps me competitve for years and years to come.

This runs against my youth approach, but I am impatient. I'm not sure that this trade is in my best interest, but hopefully it will get me somewhere this year.

.. and not to forget, keeps you from being a title team for years to come.

But as the Clippers showed this year, sometimes waiting is all you need to do. so don't count the Raptors out for the 2016 title already ...

No, I agree, it will probably be 3 years before I show some real, real competitive signs, but in 3 years, pretty well all my guys will be in their prime, and Gasol at 33 will probably still have some legs.

it's gonna be crowdy under the basket.
And expect Yao's rebounding to drop by around 3 now ...

Allright, so here is the reasoning, broken down:

1. Yao can't win it on his own. He is for sure the most dominate player ever in SSBA history, but in his 5 seasons here I was unable to find the right group of players to help him acheive what I wanted - to win an SSBA Championship.

2. Youth. Yao is 30 years old, and the majority of my players were at least 4 years away from hitting their primes. While I will not question Yao's ability to play when he is 34, I know he won't be at the same level he is at now.

3. The team it gives me. I now have an amazing cast of talent here, with a starting lineup of: Swift/Gasol/Dickau/Melo/Max, and Garcia, Walker, Prince, JDN, Perry off the bench. I am going to have players sitting on the IL that could be starters for some of the weaker teams, which brings me to my next point: This trade, coupled with the Magic trade opens up alot of trading abilites for me. I'm a little weak up front, and if I can't solve that problem in FA, then I will solve it be trading some of my benched talent.

Pretty early yet, but tough to see who gets the best of the trade. Both Yao and Carmelo are playing fantastically.
