This is getting insane. My old PC was crushing all the time (restarting). I had bad procesor, no graphical card and little of RAM. So i finally bought a strong PC couple of days ago, completely new. AND IT CHRASHED AGAIN!!!! i'm terribly frustraded!

The message i recived was; DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and later; Error caused by a device driver.

Can anyone tell me what that means? I would aprecciate alot, it really bothers me.

Thanks.

this is most likely a device driver problem.

try to see in device manager (control panel - administrative tools - device manager) if there's a ressource conflict ... so you know WHICH device causes the error.

if you can't resolv this conflict then remove the device completely (plug if off from the PC).

If you know that you attached a new device to the PC lately try removing that, it might cause the problem too.

Is it possible that i don't have appropriate cooler for my procesor? I have AMD Athlon 64, 3000. Couple of people told me that AMD is heating too much.

Now don't tell me you assembled that PC on your own. And if a store has done that get it checked there.

But this message has nothing to do with overheating of the processor. If that happens the PC usually freezes, without any messages. And after that happens some times the CPU is brokeen, too.

He bought the PC from one guy who is a fraud, i told him that, his cooler probably is the problem, but that guy who sold him cheated my father 2 times also, since then my father doesnt talk with him (my father knows more then guy about comps, so he was messing with wrong guy hehehe), worst is that the person is/was friend of both family's, but he's a guy that will put you used stuff or broken just to sell it, i told Ivan that, problem is with the cooler or he gave him something half broken or not compactible with it.

My old PC was AMD also, if the weather is above 85 degree it would restart by itself.

AMD's are fine.  I've had one for 6 years without problems.  It's not the processor.

There was a slight problem with OEM's where THEY failed to include a proper heatsink.  And this was 4-5 years ago.  It's not the chip.

What heatsink/cooling system you should use to way to detailed for just a simple question like that.  There are many different CPU architectures that each have their own processor lines.

I couldn't even tell you the brand of heatsink I put in my latest computer, as it was put together over 1.5 years ago.  I've never built a system with an AMD64 (my last one was an Athlon XP), so I don't know what cooling system is best for that.

Regardless, you would not be getting an IRQ error because of overheating.  That sounds more like a resource conflict.

Well i'm asking cause i was being told that AMD 64 only fits with Zelmans cooler. Otherwise, it's overheating too much. Number of people told me that so i'm just saying what they told me.

And i recived that IRQ error message only couple of times, the majority of times it's restarting without any message. For example, everything is fine until i run some bigger apllications like PowerDVD, Photoshop or if i open the Word document with over 100 pages, or if i watch TV through my PC. Games i won't even mention, i can play 10 to 15 minutes max, after that it's always crushing.

Well, those people are wrong.

On random restarts where nothing's in the event viewer, likely causes:
Bad motherboard
bad ram
bad power supply

If something shows up in the event viewer, likely cause:
drivers

it doesnt work with just Z coolers, it works with any good ones, but like i told you, that guy sold you some crap (it can be cooler, motherboard, who knows what), just like he did to me once, he's an asshole, i cant believe in first place you were buying something from him.

I'm positive it's not motherboard or RAM (have 1GB).

I was also thinking about bad power supply, almost bought a UPS beacuse of that. The problem could be with bad power in my room since the PC is in the same slot (plug in..don't know the right word) as my Hi-Fi (pretty big one with 4 components), TV, 3 lamps and a monitor. Could that cause a problem?

And what kind of drivers? I mean for what?
