Kobe scored yesterday 62 in 3 quarters. My question is now: Would you guys let him play in the fourth and make history or would you let him sit down like he did?
I mean how can someone sit down after he scored more points than the entire opp. team. Is it sportsmanship or ..? I can´t imagine the coach of wilt saying: please sit down 80 is enough.

I think Phil should have let him to reach to 70 (or to 72 to surprass David Robinson record). But i like it this way more, more chances for AI to go for 63 rather then 70

Phil asked Kobe is he wanted to go back in at the 9:00 mark, Kobe told him to do what was best for the team
In a way, it's sort of better that he sat the 4rth. It adds to the mystique of the game. "Kobe scored 62 points in just 3 quarters!" sounds cooler than "Kobe scored 70 points!"
That said, I definetely wanted to see him check back in the 4rth

He out scored the Mavs by himself after the 3rd quarter. Damn, why do he has to do it to the Mavs.

He always plays fantastic vs the Mavs. Just like AI vs the Bucks.

He always plays fantastic vs the Mavs. Just like AI vs the Bucks. ??? Interesting "perspective": AI has averaged 34ppg, 3rpg and 6apg in 3 games vs the Bucks this year, a tad below his season averages ... ... and the Sixers are 0-3 in those games.

Yeah, AI's torched the bucks. We're talking career, not one year.

Just that ??? hehee Seriously speaking, i think his career avg is around 38-40 vs the Bucks, since i remember this is probably his worst season vs the Bucks, only 34ppg lol

Yeah, AI's torched the bucks. We're talking career, not one year. I hope the Sixers won one of those "torching" games last year over the 30-52 Bucks or the year before over the 42-40 Bucks or before over the 41-41 Bucks ... I have to say i'm more impressed with Kobe doing it against the Mavs ...

I know you're not an AI fan, and think his scoring is hallow, but this post might be of help: http://www.basketballboards.net/forum/showthread.php?t=189024

I must confess i don't remember these games and since i hardly get to see them over here i'm not too firm on his career achievements. But that link helps. Helps me to see that the sixers win more when he takes more shots. Early assumption: bad teams give AI more shots than good teams, thus the higher shooting% and better win% But no doubt AI is a superstar and he singlehandingly carried the Sixers through the Finals 2001. But he's no MVP just by scoring 34ppg on a .500 team. MJ did that his first 6 years and got one MVP to show ...

I don't remember anyone said anything about MVP.
But off course, if the Sixers do miracle and won 50 games, he'll be again.
