Well, Celts, after neither of us being able to win at home in the first round, nobody won on the road until game 6 of this series.

Congrats on the nice season.

Thus the (first) magic season of the Celtics ends.
 Crying or Very sad

Went down 2-4 to a world class team, BUT ...
... even though I knew i'd lose some blowouts (three to be exact) I also knew I could win the close ones (two to be exact, including a double-OT decision to stay in the series). So the only sour note to this series is going down by one point in the (then-)deciding game 6. I really would have liked my chances in game 7 as my team simply plays better on the road this year (and was due for a breakout game on the road).
 Smile

Other than that, the clearly superior individual players prevailed. The tough little one surprised me a bit as I gave Billups some advantage there. Other than that is was business as expected. Pettit with a quiet 24ppg, Emeka and Sammy alone getting nearly 33 boards and 9 swats per game and my shooting around 38%.  Confused

Well, in the end it was closer than i expected it to be.
And I wonder if Jefferson starting vs. Emeka, Pau vs. Sammy and bringing Booth off the bench (as I had looooooong considered) would have changed the outcome a bit ...

Good luck Nets for the rest of the mission !

Sidenote: I have absolutely NO IDEA how I could win a game where the opponent gets 80 boards and 16 blocks (with both teams shooting roughly the same % no less) !!!

The other series?

1. Wow, the Pacers going down to the one-man show. I really thought they were the better team from 2-5, but it's hard to win when - in the deciding game - your star SG takes 9 shots (for 6 points !) and the 38%-shooting C jacks up 22 shots (i know that about half of them were putbacks of JO misses on the offensive glass ...).

2. Dirk was simply unstoppable, but what really did the Spurs in was the play of Dickau (outplaying Russell) and Kundla (making Schabi invisible). The Spurs were really NEVER in this series. Evidence? They won exactly ONE quarter (3rd Q in game 4) of the SIXTEEN played, losing the first 12 straight away. Sonics outscored Spurs by 23ppg !

3. So much for the (slight) three-peat hopes of the defending champion. Shooting somewhere around 35% in a series won't get you far (especially if the other team is almost 10% better). Only superior taking care of the rock prevented a sweep in double digit blowouts. Guess the Clippers did miss Elton after all and are finally on track now ...

So what comes next?

First of all, a new SSBA champion as none of the four contestants did win a title so far (and only the sonics and nets have some finals experience). I see a Nets-Clippers finals as the swamplanders are a matchup nightmare for TD and the Clippers can hold the Sonics in check defensively (which if the Jazz couldn't i don't see the Sonics doing at all). But I might be totally off here ...

 Cool

Thanks, it's been a success nevertheless.

And as the old saying goes, a series doesn't start until a team wins on the road. Too bad the "wrong" team won first ... Wink

I honestly thought Pettit would have a little more success than he did on the offensive end.  I didn't think that there was one bit of a chance in hell Lenard could stay with Pettit on the perimeter, but Pettit was very human in this series, particularly later in the series.

Well, just now i recognize how you nearly handed the series to me:

A.Lenard: 22.2ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.7apg, 2.3st, 1.3to  42%fg, 33%3p, 88%ft
Ga.Pettit: 24.7ppg, 7.0rpg, 4.8apg, 1.3st, 4.0to, 44%fg, 37%3p, 92%ft
Lenard did get his ppg avg, but -3%fg -4%3p, Pettit was 6ppg below avg, -4%fg -7%3p !!!!!

But the real difference was Boykins: 22ppg, 5rpg, 11apg, 55%fg while holding Billups to 15ppg on 33% shooting !!!

Please let me win before Tim Duncan retires.

Sixers vs Nets = David vs Goliath

Well, i've been the underdog since the playoff started. I just hope that austin, terp and dre can do a good job defensively like what they did with my past 2 play-off opponents.

i can´t see that happen since the nets are the only team except maybe the sonics who could really hurt you from outside your weakest position.

congrat to the sixers ..

i had a good chance to win it but my coach couldn´t change his tactics  Wink
Damp also thought he can win this series and had a statline of 16ptspg and 15 rbpg as well as 3 blks and shot 85% from the line  Shocked
but he also took the shots melo normally would have taken and shot under 40%  Confused
JO had his usual great line 26/14/4 and 4blks
