Since we have been mentioning how good the PG's in this league are... Here are the top in pure ability ranking this year. Might I mention, when I say weakness, it is a relative term... lol
Jason Kidd - 44 - BTW, now tied with Garnett as the best player in the game. Baron Davis - 40 - only weakness is outside shooting, great inside scoring Mike Bibby - 40 - C inside, his only weakness, with A handle Kirk Hinrich - 40 - C inside as well, A outside Ben Gordon - 40 -great scorer and defender, weakness is ball handling(B-) Mason Mercer - 39 - Good all around, only weakness is rebounding (D+) Jason Williams - 39 - Terrible rebounder (D), great handler and defender (A) Chauncey Billups - 38 - only weakness is his defense (B) Steve Nash - 38 - Incredible ball handler (A+), bad defender (B-) Shaun Livingston - 38 - All around good abilities, with A potential. May become the best point ever in the game.

Lol... English has a 37 in total ability, as does Garret Ward, Rafer Alston, Troy Havlicek, Jamal Tinsley, and Andre Miller. English is a bad defender (B) and terrible rebounder (D). These are pure ability rankings though, actual performance I am sure will be quite different. Major competition for the All-Star and All-league PG spots (behind Kidd, of course)

Well, that's if you value each rating equally.
I like my pg's to be able to rebound, don't get me wrong. Telfair in the old league averaged 6 rpg and was the king of the triple double (think he had like 13 in a 2 year period). But I don't think it's as valuable as ballhandling, outside shooting or defense.
Like I said, if he's willing to trade him for billups, i'm game.

I used to discount both rebounding and inside when looking at a PG, but I have since changed my mind. Having Kidd at the point makes the Magic a great rebounding team. And inside offense seems to make players more aggressive in looking for their own shots, like Mercer and Ben Gordon.

Now since these list doesn't value PG attributes, here is my file (actually used in the evaluation of Draft talent): 1 Jason Kidd 26.0 2 Jason Williams 33.0 3 Mike Bibby 33.0 4 Kirk Hinrich 33.0 5 Mason Mercer 35.0 6 Baron Davis 36.0 7 Ben Gordon 35.0 8 Troy Havlicek 37.0 9 Nicklaus English 37.0 10 Steve Nash 37.0 The formula is simple: pure PG attributes like Handling and defense count most (factor 2.5), outside shooting more (2) and inside shooting, rebounds normal (1). Totals are increasing since rating "A+" is 1 for me. The difference: AI has no chance making this list dropping all the way to #18 while Livingston narrowly missed the top 10. Using this formula, SGs Bryant (#eight) and Petitt (#10) would make the PG list too (but don't qualify here)

You know, between all of these spreadsheets and databases, from training camp to pg discussion, i've come to realize one thing. Some of us take this league way, way too seriously. You should see what I have in store once we start to get boxscores I'm still not sure if I'm going to make it publicly accessible. We'll see.

I think Marbury will make that Top 10 on my team... Doubt it... While Marbury scores well from the inside, he is not a good 3pt shooter (38% last year) Also, he is not the best assister in the world with 7.2 in 37 mpg, along with 2.8 tpg. I think his stats will gets better, especially as 2nd fiddle to McGrady... But not that much better. Anyway, that ranking was ability, and not stat-wise anyway. We can look at stats at the All-Star break

Man, no love for Earl Boykins, huh? B+/A-/B (out/hand/def)? And a 4/1 assist-to-turnover ratio? And a 16 PPG average with 2.5 steals per game?
And his defense improved this TC on top of that.
