The Pistons select:
Shane Nesterovich, PF, South Florida.

Man, if this guy could rebound, he'd be a top 3 pick.  Interesting that he goes to a frontcourt with another weak rebounder (Ferry) getting 32+ mpg.

A steal, I think. Arguably the best PF in the draft. But the better potentials of Boykins and Strong led to Nesterovich falling to this spot...

I still think that had he been able to rebound he'd have gone to the hawks.

So I have that 11th pick. Hmm, who to pick, who to pick. Axtually, it's easy. Ward is definitely the best player still out there. It's a tougher decision, however, on which two to put on my sheet for the 13th pick. Oh yeah, still have that 18th pick...

My sheet is now in, and I'm excitied to see who I can get. There are 2 guys who I really, really want, and Ward is not one of them, so I hope they don't go 12-15.

Great pick.

Nestervich is a very good player.  And he has the skills to play some SF, where his rebounding will not be a detriment.

In fact, with Ferry and Gasol entrenched as starters in the frontcourt, I would expect to see Shane starting at SF, depending upon how free agency turns out.

yeah, I hadn't really thought about that.  At only 221 lbs I guess it's feasible.  Although, IMO, C+ outside scoring for a PF was his biggest strength.

True... and B, C+ is not great for a small forward, but not too shabby.  And the C rebounding is average to above average for a small forward.

The smallest offensive increase makes him a very, very good offensive player.

Interestingly, the Pistons now have Gasol (C- out), Ferry (C out), and now Nesterovich (C+ out).  Don't send these guys to the line, they will really sink their free throws...

i do expect another trade for the pistons. i can´t imagine how they will share the ball with all the inside options.

They do not have to share Smile
Ferry, Gasol, and Nash are the 3 top options.  Ferry and Gasol are good for 20-25 ppg each, and Nash is good for 12-14 ppg.
Nesterovich is a very nice non-option, either at SF or off the bench.
And with that 11 million in cap space, they could be in very good shape, if anyone takes the money...

Very happy with the pick...  Not considering the potential, he had the highest overall ratings of any of this years rooks...

I think that would be Schabinger. Shane is tied for 2nd along with Gatling and Ward.

So my own call for a sleeper pick, Garret Ward, is still available for me to pick up. Well, it's a done deal. GW is now a Cavalier. I'm excited about him. With his B potential, he could end up being a great point guard. As of now he will just be a backup, unless Miller is traded, of course.
