I was surprised when I first saw the pick, but like Quincy more as time goes on.
Position of need for the Lakers, with Dunleavy leaving and Stephen Jackson demanding a trade. Mostly PG and SG rated above him in my draft analysis.
He is young, at 20, and actually has PF size (6'9", 247 lbs) Very good handle. If he was a better rebounder, might be a great PF prospect. If he can get up to B- B offensively, could be a very nice player.

Yeah, the big difference between him and chase russell (besides size) is potential. Other than that, they're almost identical. If that scouted potential is wrong, he could be very good. At the least, he'll be solid.
I had him rated somewhere along the 10th or 11th overall prospect in the draft. He went 9th. Right about on target.

If that goes up, he will be a well rounded offensive player. He is quite big for a SF, though. Wonder how good his perimeter defense is... I had him rated lower, but I need to adjust my ranking for the fact that PG's generally seem to have total abilites better then most other positions...

Yeah, there's almost become an oversaturation of pg's in the league, lessening their overall value (as they're easier to replace).

Yeah, there's almost become an oversaturation of pg's in the league, lessening their overall value (as they're easier to replace). Well, I do not think there are that many great points... But point guards have a tendency to be a C- or above in In, Out, Handle, and Def, being below C- in rebounding only. This inflates the ranking system many of us use to rank players, since a big man will often be below C- in outside and handle.

Peters was my choice at #8 if Russell was gone. Solid pick.
Also I agree that PGs seem to just start out with naturally higher skill ratings thus pushing other positions down in the draft.
