I did this trade for the draft pick, Toine wasn't going to be part of my plans anyway so he wasn't any big loss, getting Houston doesn't really help me at all, I still want JR Smith to bloom and Houston will probably just be my backup or on the IR...I'm hoping this draft pick becomes a lotto pick and I can get some good young players in the future....

getting a lotto pick for someone you don't care about is always great.  I'm a little surprised you'd give up the cap space next year though.  Ultimately, it's great for the future (literally adding a potential top 5 pick for nothing), but might delay the rebuilding process a bit.

I'll process it when I get home.

Yea, it delay's the process but I'm banking on probably having 3 lotto picks the next 2 seasons and my young guys progressing

then you could add those 3 picks, with a fa signing this year, AND have room to add a max free agent just as these 3 picks are developing.

Ultimately, it helps long-term from a talent perspective.  It does probabl delay it a bit though.

knicks, keep in mind you now only have 1 open roster spot (since you added a spot here)
