Finally some action, and ...  ....to Martin Brunson, man-beast. Guy is huge, great starting point D, IN/OUT is passable and projects well and am fairly confident that his REB is gonna skyrocket. He'll be manning the pivot for a long time in Jersey which will allow Moby and Karl to concentrate on the offensive side of the ball that much more, and give me more flex with resigning other guys moving forward. If the A pot is true, he's going to be a special big man. |

I thought Zimmerman and Brunson were both stretches. I am sure Brunson's potential is high and obviously that's why he's the #2 pick but Nets could have picked up Thomas or Roy (again barring potential) and they could have instantly made an impact. I don't think Brunson makes an impact right away unless he has a huge TC. I think Nets could have got Brunson at the #9 had they known they would trade for that today and get either Thomas or Roy with the #2. It will be interesting to see where Patrick O'Bryant, a player with comparable starting ratings to Brunson, falls. I would have taken Brunson before O'Bryant but wherever O'Bryant goes will give me an indication on how far down the board other teams had Brunson.
Isaiah Zimmerman is a gifted offensive player but lacking on the defensive end. He reminds me of a guy that I took a long time back at the #4 pick, Ivan Strong (some of you old time SSBA'ers might remember him). Strong never developed into a serviceable defender but had a great offensive game. I think Zimmerman's offensive capabilities alone make him a top 10. I don't agree with drafting a guy just because he fills a need this early in the draft, but Zimmerman doesn't fill a need IMO or was the best player on the board. I think Thomas or Millsap (again I don't know potential) would have been a great fit in NY along with Chamberlain who is an absolute monster as we all know. If NY can mask the defensive woes of Zimmerman it's a good pick, but as it stands now, I would have went with Thomas or Millsap, even though Tyrone HIll is at PF right now.

And in reply to Hawks... I obviously don't think of Brunson as a stretch, I see his size as being a real boost to his production and development and what seperated him for me from the other impressive looking guys like Millsap and Thomas: am thinking it will translate to production that is better than his ratings. Should be a force on the boards in short order, too. Have no idea if the pot is real, but getting to B IN and B REB is no stretch developmentally. His nice OUT rating and decent handles suggest he'll be an efficient guy in different systems. |

damn, if pot is true, my frontcourt is nasty already, led by kerr, and plenty of cap next off-season, we can finally form a good winning team if not this, then with little luck in FA next season !
