Chris Paul PG 6'0'' 175 20 C+ B A A C C

Probably in his THIRD season I would get him these ratings in the NBA, at least offensively, but "A" defense is WAY overrated, even now. But for a ROOKIE ??? Horrible ...

You know FBB, players can improve up to 10 net ratings. That's why rookie ratings ALWAYS have to be lower ...

just looked it up, Chris Paul is the best player created in SSBA ever, by a landslide.

(second and third on that list, btw, is Penny from the last draft, another horrible overrarted rookie, and Sampson from the 2020 draft, who at least had -1 potential. Those three are WAY ahead of everyone else, including Jordan, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, DRob, Isiah, Barkley, an all the rest)

not good IMO.

I put in his rookie stats and this is what was generated.  It mostly has to do with his leading the NBA in steals.  And I randomized potentials, otherwise I didn't tweak anyone's ratings.

Try putting in Wilt Chamberlain's rookie stats...even assuming a 2:1 turnover to assists.  And also assume 2 blks per game (they didn't keep stats on blocks or turnovers).  His ratings would be:  A D+ C- A+ A+

Just because Paul had an outstanding rookie year as THE MAN on a team whereas the others that you listed weren't as statistically good as rookies doesn't mean the system is flawed.  For all you know he has F true potential.

Also look at your comment in the other thread about Bird...sounds like you are channeling the old Kings GM.

Chris Paul is gonna come out guns blazing, but there's no guarantee that he's gonna keep it up. I've seen an FBB-created player with better rookie ratings that fizzled. He had his best scoring season in his 2nd season (32.7 PPG). In his 11th season and at 33 years old, he was to just an average player.

That said, he's a very easy #1 pick. Rob Babcock couldn't screw this up.

I'm still torn...
Not.
But yeah, the draft list area is still last years, as is the "view true potential" area. I've submitted my pick using the old draft list thing, so I hope that's ok.

i know about how FBB creates ratings, which makes creating the draft file so tricky.

So let's see:

Michael Jordan's rookie stats:
28.2 ppg / 6.5 rpg / 5.9 apg / 2.4spg / 0.8bpg / 3.5topg (shooting .515 / .173 / .845)
Chris Paul's rookie stats:
16.1 ppg / 5.1 rpg / 7.8 apg / 2.2spg / 0.1bpg / 2.3topg (shooting .430 / .282 / .847)

MJ's rookie ratings here:
A-   C+   B   B+   C   D
CP's rookie ratings here:
C+   B   A   A   C   C

and i say that's too much for CP in comparison.

And that's my main criticism: drafts have to be compareable.

So either you are accusing me of cheating or lying.  Either way is total BS.  Get over yourself Tom.

I still don't know what to do about my draft lists.

You can do it the "old" way and PM it to me.  However it looks like I will delay the draft a few days until I talk to Bods.  Right now no one can check potentials and last year's draft lists still show up.  I can also tell you that Wizards used the "draft list" function and I can see his list.  It's just that I can also still see last year's lists...but it is obvious which draft the list applies to.

I don't critizise you, Doug, you hardly created the MJ draft file years ago, so you are clearly not responsible for him

but if I enter MJ's rookie stats, these are the ratings I get:
A   C   B   A   C
considerably better than the actual rookie ratings he had in SSBA:
A- C+  B  B+  C

So some other formula must have been used in the past ... or the actual ratings were a little degraded (which i think is the way to go ... unless you like Earls in sim leagues)

Again, Doug, not your fault by any means, but since you posted the ratings i can only direct my criticism at you, sorry about that.
 Cheers
