I'll say sim the whole season. I don't think waiting will be good for the league.

btw, how long do we need to wait?

as bods explained, it might be a month or two, or more depending on his free time. But he can't make any guarantees ...

I think a better time for a break is at the end of a season.  However I also feel that we cannot force someone to sim if they don't have the time.

And I believe a break of more than a couple weeks will be the collapse of the league.  People will find other pasttimes to fill their time.  We have had difficulties filling the occasional open team.  What will we do if only 22-24 of the GMs are still interested in 3-4 months?

I have voted to continue but will respect Pacers for stopping as he has been more than open with us about needing to step down.

Making a poll asking the people who don't put in any work whether they want to consider simming was probably pretty pointless.

It's like making a poll asking whether guys would like $100 for nothing.  Yeah, they do, but that doesn't make it feasible.

If we know Pacers doesn't have time to sim anymore, it's tough to ask him continue doing it.  Notice not one person volunteered their time.  When asking "when's the sim", it would be nice to recollect why you didn't volunteer, and recognize that pacers is the one giving up his free time.

If there's nobody willing to volunteer their time, whether or not the sim stops now or finishes out the season (and again, I can't make any guarantees on when I'll be even in a testable phase) really is pacers call, not any of the GM's.  I hope pacers makes the decision that's best for HIM.

I voted to postpone the league for more or less the reasons you just listed. I could not have said that better myself.

I third this. Running a sim like a part-time job, except for the fact that YOU DON'T GET PAID.

well, a lot of people offered help simming, before. so it's not like there are only "fun leechers" here. but of course it's in the best interest of the league to keep the number of simmers at a minimum.

as for the Pacers: agreed, he has to decide, no matter what the poll's outcome will be (and I don't think we would have needed a poll to find out most guys rather play on)

First of all, I respect the work both you and the PacersGM has put into this sim league. And I'm very thankful for that.

With regards to my statement. This is because PacersGM posted..

"after bods declared that he will need more time, i want to know your opinion. this poll will be on for 5 days. i want at least half of the gms voting here."

I don't think asking when is Sim 1 is wrong since I think almost all the GMs has voted already. And the majority voted to continue the simming until the automated version comes out.

And about PacersGM's situation. Actually, a lot of GMs are guessing here. We don't really know how the PacersGM is feeling. Why is he stepping down? Is he stepping down because of his personal decisions (i.e work schedules and etc) or Is he stepping down because someone wants him to step down? We haven't heard from the PacersGM, himself, on his feelings regarding his job as the commish. I mean, if he posted that he's stepping down because of time constraints, that would definitely ease up the decision making for some GMs with regards to this poll.

I mean, normally when a commish steps down, he creates a thread saying why he is stepping down. But in PacersGM's situation, it was Derek who posted that he is stepping down for undisclosed reasons. And yet, he has been simming ever since the announcement and I don't think from his posts, he has shown the "I hope somebody can take my place as commish" attitude. I and JazzGM, If I'm not mistaken, has asked regarding the future of this sim league. And yet, there was no reply or any sort from the higher ranking officials of this sim league. Again, this leaves us here having a big question mark on the future of this sim league.

In the end of the day, I and all the GMs here are all in for the benefit of this Sim league. I don't mean to make it sound dramatic or anything, but this sim league has been a big part of our lives for years. So If I sound "rude" or "cold" it isn't any of my intention to sound this way. I was just preventing or maybe scared that this sim league would end because of inactivity for a couple of weeks or so.

And with regards to how the future of this SIm league shall pan out, It is up to Derek or PacersGM. Thus, I don't think that the poll should be the barometer of where this sim league should be heading.

Who?

(honest question, not trying to be snarky)

Nets offered to try to finish out the year.  Nobody else has said anything that I recall, and we would have noone beyond this year.
