I agree.  I'm clearly in need of rebuilding and Redd's not good enough at defense or rebounding to be the piece to build around.  And he'd cost me some major dough in the offseason.

Not bad. Diddle's potential makes him a great prospect to go along with his already solid offensive game and good defense. I think the Bucks could have gotten a little bit more for Redd though. Pacers now have a excellent triple threat with Jermaine, Artest, and Redd.

I really like this trade for the Bucks. Diddle will eventually be better than Redd... in fact, it may not take that long for that to happen. Diddle comes with a much cheaper contract for the next four years. The first rounder makes the deal even better!
Good job Bucks!

I think the reasoning for both sides.

The pacers have the defenders at all positions to make up for what redd's defensive shortcomings.  They have 5 guys with an A defense, 3 starters with A defense and the other has A-.  Redd now gives them probably the 2nd best inside/outside offensive combo in the league (behind me, of course Wink ).

With the Bucks, I wouldn't want to give him the contract he'll demand in the offseason, making him the centerpiece of my team with a C+ defense.  That's just a very, very tough thing to do.  And I like Diddle.  He has the chance, with very little improvement, to be Michael Redd offensively with A- defense.  He's only 1 rating category away offensively.  And if not, he's on his rookie contract for another 4 years.

He might have been able to get a little more, I don't think the Hornets pick has a chance of being in the lotto, but I think Diddle was definitely the replacement to go after.

You mean second best behind the Clippers! You know which team scores 107ppg right?! Btw... at shooting over 50% as a team!

Ok ok, I know my team has to do that for more than just 7 games... but I am happy with that now!  Laughing

Kings: you have a great outside option, but only solid low post options.  Neither average more than 13.5 ppg, shoot higher than 43% or have better than B+ inside scoring.  Notice I said "combo", and not player.

Clips: Brand's amazing, but I don't think Gordon (or Maggette) is up there with Redd, Pettit or Carter.

Right now I think all the top combo's are in the east.  Raptors (Boozer and Vince), Nets (Okafor and Pettit), Pacers (O'Neal and Redd), Heat (Shaq and Marion), Sixers (TD and Iverson).  The balance of power for big men has definitely shifted east.
