I wanted to see if the poor training camps I've been having are normal or if I've been having exceptionally poor luck.  So, I looked over years from 2018 to the present for my team, and used the Indiana Pacers as a point of reference.  I picked the Pacers because I wanted to assure myself that the commish wasn't abusing his powers in some fashion with the training camps.  (and I don't believe he was after looking at the data.)

For the Jazz
2018 -2
2019 +1
2020 0
2021 -1
2022 -3
2023 -6
2024 -4
2025 -2
2026 +3
2027 -4

Total = -18

For the Pacers

2018 +1
2019 -4
2020 -3
2021 -3
2022 -2
2023 -1
2024 +1
2025 +8
2026 +1
2027 +6

Total = +3

These numbers don't reflect new adds, be it by trade, draft, or signing.  They are representative only of players that stayed year to year on the same team.  This was because I compared end of year to end of year ratings instead of pre TC to Post TC ratings as I don't know where to find those for this league.  So, for some years, there were only 3-4 players reflected in the count, due to the system I used.  Admittedly a poor system, but, it took me a couple hours just to get this data together...

So, I think it's pretty clear that my team is crap when it comes to TC.  We average -1.8 every year over the last 10 years (using this way of measuring).  But, the Pacers haven't been lights out either.  Other than the last 3 years where they've been +15, they've been a very average team when it comes to TC.

Things to explore in the future
---------------------------
How did average scouted potential relate to the average change in TC?
How did the average player age relate to the average change in TC?
Find a way to get the results from every player.
Find a way to get the data for every team (without taking a week to do it).

Wow.. you're like a scientist. Anyway, good job!

I believe that potentials are completely random although if you have higher potentials, your player has higher percentages to become better. I can help you in this regard, since im very particular about potentials.

You have to factor what kind of team a GM likes to build. A veteran team will have worse TC's than young teams.

Neat article man. It'd be interesting to see who has drafted the best over the years.

I intend to start tracking TCs beginning next offseason.  It should be interesting.  I'll be looking at how age and scouted potential affects average change in ratings.

I'll probably take a few seasons to know much, but, I think it'll be an interesting exersize from day #1.
