Jazz accept.

Tough to trade the face of the franchise, but, I just don't think we were going to win it all this year, (or even make the playoffs) so moving Bird for some youth seemed to be a good move for both Bird and the team.

My thanks to everyone who made offers.  I'm sorry we couldn't work out a deal.  This trade with Atlanta was what I deemed the best offer of the bunch.  It didn't include a 1st rounder as I was looking for, but, in my estimation it returned the best player offered in Chris Mullin and a couple decent prospects as well.

Atlanta was terrific to work with, never pressured me as I took my sweet time in shopping Bird.  I'd trade with them again anytime.

Jazz was a great trading partner.  My friend was the old Jazz GM so it's tough seeing his masterpiece demolished but it seems as though the new JazzGM knows what he's doing.

Larry Legend will give me a third great scorer, unless I deal Sampson.  Larry is aging, so it's a 2 year window that I need to make a run right now.  Hakeem won't be leaving so we will never be without a star, but Ralph and Larry are both getting older and probably going to decline.  This season has the potential to be a huge let down now that I am expecting big things with Bird in the lineup.  It was really a Mullin for Bird deal.  That works out in the short term for me but not the long term.
