Sim 8 done

well from now on dwight and sabonis has to stay together on the court or they will run suicide till the end of their career 
after more than 3 seasons of being injury free dwight was now injured twice in 2 sims 
at least i won all my games except against the blazers were hakeem kept my whole frontcourt in foul trouble. a very nice win over pistons without howard.
rogers is an amazing PG. he had a double double in 21mins with 10points 12 assists and 0 Turnover

they are A-mazing. After their trades everything is clicking. Too bad I hold their pick, but props to a great job rebuilding this team from the sim 1 losers ...

@ Rockets
Easily have replaced the Sonics as the fun-team of SBBA. High scoring, little defense, and surprisingly a good number of wins. They may not have a great future, but they sure enjoy the present ...

I'm starting to understand why Natt has been traded like 15 times in his career already.
But I have a hard time understanding why 14 teams traded FOR him ...

We went 3-4 this sim. Awful. Tyler only played 29.7 minutes and shot 36.7% this sim. Evans only avg 7.1 assists, so I think I will try making him a non option.

wow, this sim i really found out what isn't working.

Michael Robinson is, is, is, ... well, expiring. That's probably the best part.
Peters at PF is a bad bad setup against many opponents
Paxson is far better at SG than at SF
My frontcourt sucks. No wonder, when it's made of Kleine's, Cliff's and Levi's. Poor Mahorn ...

positives (apart from playing the Hornets tough for 24 minutes and "only" losing close games to Bucks (1) and Raps (7) ?
Isiah Laettner is a dwarf but maybe the best player on this team


Otherwise this is a transition season by all accounts. As in "who are the 3 players to keep from this sorry squad".
Too bad I can't get excited when my backup PG leads the team in scoring with 20pts in 15 minutes ...

Now 18-3 since the day 51 trades... It's funny, the last three seasons the Pacers and I heat up at the same time and he ends up winning the division. Well, it's not so much funny as it is annoying...

We are not a lottery team, I'm currently holding down a playoff spot. Can you say the same? I'll never be embarrassed in holding a team to 67. My team may have stunk at one end of the court but were fantastic at the other. Makes it alot easier to fix a problem when there is only have a problem. I'm quite happy with the defence of this team, in 14 games since the all-star break they have held opp to less than 75 points 4 times, a feat your mighty Celtics have acomplished a grand total of once this year. This sim 1 player over 26 years old made my rotation. He is my less significant stat contributor. Expectations from a team that young are no more than to play solid ball.


There are, of course, one thing you may have missed.

1. While you were busy worrying about everyone else's team, the Raptors were busying beating you on your home court to complete a sim in which we went 3-3 AND overtook your mighty Celtics for the last playoff spot (funny, weren't you just calling US a mediocre lotto team? I guess people in glass houses and all that...). 

So instead of coaching the league, why not at least coach your own team into a playoff position? It's just too hard not to laugh when you get called out by a team who is on a 2-8 nosedive straight out of the playoffs.

I would like a league examination of my two games with the mavericks this sim, and expect some heavy penalties to be levied upon them.

First, they injure my starting PF (Tyson Thurmond) within 5 minutes of the game (and he was starting since my true starting PF, Rodney McCray, was injured the previous game)
Next game, a viscious hit on my star, Vern Fleming, and he is out.

Dirty, dirty play...  Shame on that squad!!!!!   

Again, lot's of injuries this sim, so I still cannot see how the new-look team is doing.

So instead of coaching the league, why not at least coach your own team into a playoff position? It's just too hard not to laugh when you get called out by a team who is on a 2-8 nosedive straight out of the playoffs.

Well, let me get one thing straight: The Celtics ARE a medicore team, no doubt. I have no intentions of making the playoffs - or probably should rather say no business to do so - and me hanging onto the #8 spot militates more for the lousiness of the competition than for the Celtics power.

At the beginning of the season I was above the hard cap, had no cap to even sign a min FA, and had a roster made of 5 huge salaries (including the one I was certain would retire, or i had bought it out last season) and a couple of backups and 2nd round picks. 3 of those 5 huge contracts were 34-36 yrs of age.

So I started to get rid of the huge contracts, starting with Tyler, then Gutierrez, and finally Moncrief (who was probably the best remaining somewhat young asset, but was far from a franchise player by any means). In return i got cap space, average youth, and nothing else. Still, through all those lineup changes we were playing .500 ball ... just as we did with all the 5 stars at the beginning of the season. So this tweaked lienup I used for sim 7 was the first one not doing good (as in playing .500), so I will take that.


For the rest of the season the goal will be to move the remaining big salaries (Peters, Mahorn) and start rebuilding, for the first time since the 2007 season (since 2008, in every single season the Celitics either made the playoffs or finished in the #9 spot, which happened 3 times). But on this way to rebuilding we'll make sure a playoff spot keeps our win rating high ...


... and since all we have to do is beat out a mediocre Raptors team, I like our chances.




(no, we didn't ignore that Hawks teams, but I'm sorry, all you will have is frontrow seats to the battle of the giants for #8 this season ...)

Hey, the Hawks are in it to win, one position, SG, kills me because I have Scott Skiles (6'1) starting and Spud Webb (5'6) as the reserve.  I changed that but we need Skiles and Spud's scoring, realistically, I don't think we have a shot at the 8 spot considering the talent on the Raptors roster, but at least we went 3-1 against the Celtics this season

You've done a decent job this year then....but there is a reason you started the season where you did - YOU got yourself there.

It's tough to blame a lack of success on the hard cap or banking on a player retiring.


Again, I'm fine with this young of a team being .500. I expect them to finish the year above that mark, and I don't think that would be mediocre at all. Rather finish above .500 with a solid young team than under .500 with my back against the cap and a bunch of mediocre players.


I think if a poll were to be done with the GMs in the know, the vast majority would rather be in my shoes than yours right now, and remember, we've both been here a long time, where our teams are is where we led them.
