pretty solid sim. really needed my depth. newcomb did an amazing job next to howard. he avg. over 20points 12 rebounds and 4 assists. he had a near triple double against the bulls (just missing it by 1 assist). Future is looking good in pacerland.

And the team with the best record so far is.... The HAWKS  Shocked
guess his PG is better than expected

6-3 is enough to sit atop the Division, so that's OK.

Went with Tobey as a non-option - with interesting but not convincing results: good overall production, but we seemed to lack some overall punch (Curry doesn't seem to have much of a scorer's mentality, avg'ing 10ppg despite good percentages and being second option - and of course, got killed on the other end).

Palacio and Milner are nice running mates, and timeless. Always amazed at the fits Fat Lever gives Milner - and not really a fan.

Bennett is finding his way with the new mates, putting up nice numbers off the bench. Getting tons of burn thanks to Fleish's early foul troubles.

the record is a great start, but it was against 2 CPU controlled teams, 2 rebuilding teams and a team in the Heat who are still missing a few pieces.  I think that I am still a sub .500 ball club, but time will tell.  My 2 off-season pick-ups, LaFrentz and Whately are playing very impressively.  A+ handles couldn't just be there for show, and the scoring is just a shock consider Whatley's ratings.  My off-season was still a dissapoinment with the loss of Green but we shall move on.

Whatley won't continue to shoot above 50%, but if the rest of his game fits so perfectly who cares. And I guess I have to eat some crow too. LaFrentz looks amazing early on. I still don't like him needing almost one shot per point, but it's hard to argue against 27ppg. Looks like a good signing indeed!

what is truly AMAZING is the history of Newcomb.

Drafted by the Hornets in 2021 he was traded to the Pacers before his first TC (in case you wonder he has improved +5 net ratings since) together with THREE FIRST ROUNDERS (one Hornets, two Magic). It doesn't stop here. The Magic slipped badly despite Dwight, and the Pacers took Dumars at #9 with the first pick, and then traded Dumars and the other Magic first to the Magic for DWIGHT and AGUIRRE. So that's how they got the core from the last 2 title teams.

So let's read that once again: ROY HINSON WAS TRADED FOR DWIGHT HOWARD, JOHNNY NEWCOMB, MARK AGUIRRE and ANOTHER FIRST.
(I know it's not fair, but here's the comparison: Roy Hinson 5ppg, 12rpg, 3,4bpg , Mark+Dwight+Johnny 52ppg, 30rpg, 3bpg)

Sometimes life is amazing
 Cheers

My team reminds me of the present chicago bulls. Defensive oriented but is lost on offense, mainly because of their unorthodox backcourt and TOs! damn.. TOs..

Do we get GM points here for having a 1:1 team assists to TO ratio here?

Nice 4-1 start. We suffered a tough loss vs Sixers, but the rest was all good. Zeke and Akeem are making the difference so far. Kersey is a really pleasant suprise. Drexler couldnt show up same offensive numbers as in pre season so O'Neill will be given another chance.

Lets continue this way.

Pretty uneventful sim for my team. we might go 41-41 this season with a 33-8 home record and a 8-33 road record. boring ...

This is basically what I was envisioning when I made some moves to remake the team -- shotblockers with no scoring ability at the 4/5 with scorers at the 1/2/3.

No way do I expect this much success going forward (+17 ppg differential?!), but this is a great start.

Hornets are doing great now, of course, but that's not the point. And we all know that it's not like you handed two titles to the Pacers here, it was not what you did wrong but what they did good.

But while I believe that deal wasn't one of your career highlights  (it's not like Hinson was on target to become any different than he is now, and I doubt thats worth 3 future firsts), it wasn't the Magic fault too. When they gave up on Dwight they already had waited a season too long and were deep in the lottery WITH Dwight. So they felt they had to sell him for 20cent on the dollar just to get anything for him before he retires.

And nobody could have forseen that Howard would play on and on and on and on and on. Season 19 now. I don't know how that happens since most big men retire age 34, 35 and after like 14-15 seasons maximum in FBB, but it did.

So sorry if my "funny interpretation" of the deal did hurt you, it wasnt meant to make you look like a bad GM. Your track record says the complete opposite ...

at the time the trade was made the picks looked pretty none lotto. i think it was 4 picks included in the trade. i did it at that time mainly because newcomb was bigger, had already the pot scoring plus and the A pot. no way the hornets could envision that the 2 magic picks would bring me dwight.
Hinson already was established as the next rex metha without the scoring ability. With sampson already on board it was the perfect move that gave him a title and the chance to have a dynasty for several years.

Perhaps the reason that I have success is that I know the worth of players like Hinson.

I just looked it up: at the time of the trade Hinson had played one season, 5ppg, 8rpg, 2.4bpg with "career highs" of 11pts, 16reb, 7blk and ratings of C+ D+ D A- B B. There's a whole lot more missing to Mehta than just scoring.

And it's not like your Pacers ripped through the playoffs with Dwight either. In your first year you twice escaped a game 7 winning by 1 over Pistons in round 1 and by 2 over Hornets in the CF. So this whole thing easily could have been a 1st rd exit and Dwight retirement with no title as well.

Luck does play a big role in FBB, and good GM'ing can only take you so far here ...

Perhaps you are a good GM?

Hinson would be a complete failure on 80% of the teams here. Like Ben Wallace in reality. Without the perfect team surrounding him he's useless. And you got that team around Roy (though I still believe the Sampson/Bol move was horrible)
