I just don't think SixersGM should have to tell the world that he just bought 3 true pots.

If you would have just traded him cash during round 1 of the draft then he would have bought the potentials.  And everybody could have seen that he bought 3 potentials by checking the banks.  You have taken something that is transparent and made it murky.

he was waiting to see who went in the first 5 picks.

Conversely, nobody has to post on the message boards that they purchased true potential.  So, by posting in the completed trade thread, you've now taken something that is not readily obvious and made it readily obvious.

I'm kind of with the Spurs on this one. In the interest of full disclosure (so no 'funny stuff' goes on), all components of a trade should be posted, after-the-fact or not. There's nothing illicit in this trade, but imo it's just better policy to have teams post all of what went down.

Ok.

So are GM's who share true potentials required to reveal that, too?

Isn't that really what this is the equivalent of?

No because it's not a trade.

see, I don't make that distinction, and I don't think that's really fair, either.  But like Spurs said, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

The distinction would be that sharing potentials isn't part of a trade that's posted on the completed trades thread --- there's no one wondering "what is happening here that the pick is going for so much less than I offered" - which was the reaction of a few of us.

No one's the wiser if two GMs share potentials, whereas here there is a trade that appears to be very unfavorable to one GM. It just leads to confusion and -- more generally -- if not all components of a trade are posted it could lead to abuse.

As I said, I don't see anything wrong with this deal, I just think it's better policy to post all components of a trade.

I have zero problems with the scouting of POT for someone else because, as mentioned, it had to be done prior to the sim, but the trade wasnt going to be done in time for Sixers to use it himself. To me its perfectly legit. I felt the need to question the originally posted trade because I know I offered more than was posted, so I felt something was either missing, or fishy, and I wanted to find out.

I don't have a problem with what they did, but I don't really see the point. The second people who offered $500+ more than what it appeared to be traded for were obviously going to start asking questions the second this was posted. Would have saved some bad vibes.

i agree with hornets and spurs here. you have to post the full money you give up for the pick.
and it wasn?t neccessary to scout the pot for the sixers. he could have asked me to use the money before the sim since he would get it after the sim anyway.
i think several seasons ago we also allowed it to use money before you will get it (it was money for DCs i think).

But what if you werent going to be around until right before the sim, and he wasnt going to be on at the same time to alter his draft list if need be?
