even if Robinson has 40 true pot he should be selected over anybody. Hardly ever we had such a clear #1 like this season.

(btw, a very low true pot usually means the player doesn't improve a lot, maybe even loses a rating or two over the next 6-7 seasons. And I still can't see anybody else topping him by then)
well, true. But IF Robinson had that type of potential it would be the same situation with Oscar Ferry.

Oscar Ferry wasn't as good of a rookie as David is.  David has +4 ratings over Oscar as a rookie.  David is more comparable to Ralph Sampson, who just had a career year in his 4th year in the league and improved last TC.

What made you think Robinson has bad potential?  You didn't believe Sixers posts, did you?  you know you can check the transaction log of all GM's and find out whether they scouted anyone's potential.

Oscar Ferry ...... C   6'11"   238   18   A-   C-   C-   A-   C+   D
David Robinson .. C   7'1''   235   18   A-   C-   C-   A   B+   C

looks close, but in fact isn't

and Ferry wasn't bad, averaging 21ppg 9rpg and 1.5bpg with good defense over the first 6 seasons, had an AllStar berth, and played more than 10 seasons.

I am very, very excited to draft Pippen.  Kevin Johnson looks like a bad pick for the Magic as he already has a great pg.

I am surprised by Magic pick and I am interested to see how DRob and Ewing co-exist underneath, might not be enough room in the paint for both of them.

I don't think the Magic's pick is bad if he scouted the TP. I don't see any reason not to take the BPA when you're rebuilding, unless that position is completely saturated in the league.

Robinson's potential would have to be in the 20's for Pippen to be an even comparable prospect IMO.  And he'd still be far superior to Johnson IMO.

I still don't understand why, if you thought Pippen was a better prospect than Johnson, you would put Johnson first.  Saying "I thought Pippen would go first" makes no sense when you have the second pick.  Why would you not just list your top 2 prospects in order?

BTW, I see a -$200 in the cavs bank log too.  I'm guessing he scouted David's potential, so we'll find out shortly whether it was truly as bad as Magic is saying it is.

I'm not too happy about it, but it certainly wasn't low enough for me to even consider taking someone else, not even close.

Hey, if Raplh Sampson can get it done with his potential, DRob will be just fine!

Was Oscar Ferry the legendary prospect who looked like all-time great but went bust fast? Because even with terrible potential, that outcome was an anomaly - very rare. Robinson could improve 0 net grades in four years, hell, even lose 3/4 and still be in the running for an all-league team every one of them. As "no-brainer" as a pick can be imo.

And I for one don't really think the Johnson pick is that bad for the Magic, in context - though I'd probably have been inclined to pick Pippen myself. Azario is a nice looking player, but leaves a lot to be desired as a PG - that 1.5:1 a/to ratio needs to come down alot to be playable on a winning team, and PG and C are probably the two positions that are most crucial positions to be strong at during a rebuild.

I'd bet all my team bank money that KJ will end up with a better assist:ratio than Azario's after his first full year, and that will enable Magic to be more set at a key position moving forward.

I understand where they're coming from especially with Kevin's handling.

Would I have picked Kevin Johnson over Scottie again, maybe. I know what I'm getting with KJ's potential.
