Yeah, I know Orlando is young, has a ton of potential and will probably be a star, but Lenard is old and not capeable of fulltime starting anymore. So I get two starters for one, and since Tyler/Moncrief can cover for Purvis' weak defense I hope this benefits my team.

If not I still have the Kings lotto pick now.

what a rape by the kings. no way that the pick will be a lotto. with orlando he covered his biggest weakness and his team is young enough to improve till 025. in the wide open west he will be in the POs for sure in the next years.
And calling purvis a starter has to be joke. i would take lenard 10 times over short.
moncrief is not even close to orlando in production. at least the celtics should have tried orlando at SG before trading him away for weaker players with horrible contracts.

Good job ivan.

This is such a awesome deal for me.I can't belive i finally got my hands on Orlando whom i've tried to get for numbers of times. And it's really a great price. I like Moncrief but with # of SG's i have one of them had to go. Purvis was a guy i was planing to buy out anyway and would've barely crack my rotation + that pick is going to be worthless off course. So it's basically Moncrief for Orlando which is just phenomenal.

Now my lineup is set for years and probably good to be a top 5 team in the West this year as well.

Sleepy Floyd
Andrew Toney
Orlando Wooldridge
Thurl Bailey
Benoit Benjamin

I like this core and most importantly i'm going to be a player again in this upcoming FA.

Kings have a chance to move among the elite of the West....surpassing Warriors for the most intriguing young team in the conference.

Finally all coming together.

I don't think it is a horrible trade either way, but the description of Short as a starter scares me a bit.

I'd take a SF with B+ inside over a one with A outside any day of the week...

we'll see guys, we'll see.

Problem with Orlando is that he vanishes in big games and has been inconsistant at best so far in his career.  For every 25pt game you get two 10pt games on 2-17 shooting. Defense? Look elsewhere. I doubt there's a "star player" in this league that has more opponents shoot 50+%. Maybe he will get it one day, but i've been living with him unerachieving 4 seasons now, and i'm glad it's none of my worries from now on.

Oh, and our opinions vary on Purvis too. I think it's (an 8 year younger) Lenard all over again, just with an outside shot, and that's enough for me. You need scorers in this game, and he could be just that. A #1 option to fill up the stat sheet. Just because the Kings didn't use him right doesn't mean it can't be done.

(and anyone holding the King to 1-9 shooting can't be that bad defensively too.

Again, I get two starters entering their prime, a first, cash and give up some untapped potential ...

If I remember right as of last trade deadline Kings could pay someone $200 to take Short off him.

Well, while I wouldn't go so far as to call this a "rape," I think that giving up Woolridge for Purvis and Moncrief, who are both overpaid, imo, is a mistake.
The $ will be helpful and the pick could be decent, judging from the Kings' past few seasons, so that evens things out a little.
