I know how much time it takes (2 minutes when cuts and signings are involved, 1 minute otherwise) and since our league averages 1.7 trades per sim (not counting sim 12, playoffs and the seasons end) you can do the math ...

agreed, it's not your responsibility, but it could have been avoided probably. I know it's just a minor deal, but that would be very kind of you.

(and this might be the opportune time to make a petition for an extra trade deadline effort from the league commissioner: PLEASE check agreed-to trades BEFORE the deadline actually occurs, so people could re-do those. Sometimes we're to blind to see the obvious, and it's horrible finding out on day 110 ! Thanks in advance ...)

well you have to be a master of this. since i need at least 5 mins to check transaction page or check the sals etc.
and again it would take maybe 10 mins on your side to check it as well.
Again i won?t give you an advantage by checking the trade before the deadline. If you made a fault live with it.

I'm sorry, but why should the commish have to spend more time to check the transactions page before he runs the sim because you couldn't?  Why should he have to come back and consistently check the trades forum every hour of every day so he can check their validity and notify you in time?  When did this become a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week job?  Why can't you check agreed-to trades BEFORE THE DEADLINE OCCURS to make sure they work?  What extra tools does the commissioner have access to that you don't have to verify trades work?

If both teams don't check that a trade works, then both teams are at fault if it doesn't get done before the deadline.  Neither team has a right to cry about it.  And it's not the commissioners fault if it doesn't get done.  It's not his responsibility.

I've never heard, in any league, where it's the league's job to make sure beforehand that a trade is valid.  That's your responsibility.  Period.  Especially for veteran GM's

I totally agree. When my trade didn't go through because the FAs didn't make enough for it to go through, I didn't complain about it, I apologized to the commish for wasting his time.

you're right ... and I'm wrong
I'm sorry for attacking PacersGM with stuff that's my fault only. Doesn't show a lot of responsibility, if any, from my side ...
Sad

(and one of these days I will get over Orlando-gate, i'm sure ...)

@bods
no, it's neither his JOB nor his RESPONSIBILITY. But he's the only one that can tell for sure something is wrong. Thus I did kindly ASK for a deadline pre-check (in the other thread), by no means DEMAND IT ... just to make that clear.

@bods thanks for the words of wisdom.

i was really wondering what kind of motivation TOM had to insist that i had to check his trades.
i never remembered him doing that in his own league either.

i'm sorry to cause trouble, and i appologize for that.

but it's not fair playing short memory now. In my league, when i see new trades that are agreed upon I check those without making much fuss about it ... unless there's a problem, then i talk to the trade partners. I even upheld sims for a day or two because of that, just for the convenience of players, even if you can't remember that.

yes, lets not forget we're PLAYERS, it's a GAME here, nothing that can/should be legally enforced in REALITY. Nobody ever made a big deal if some delay happened because of that, nobody complained being treated unfairly because OTHERS were granted an exception to a deadline or a incomplete deal. And not just in DJSL, but in most other leagues i've been in, too. Sometimes I wonder why ...

And remember that for the commish, too.

Unless you want to start up a donation so he can have a salary.

This is already a VERY demanding job.  Asking him to make it more demanding so you don't have to spend the 2 minutes to check is unfair IMO.
