I'm pretty satisfied with McDyess. At 18 years old, with several categories containing "C+" ratings, and with "B" defense...he could improve into an interesting player provided that he has some potential in him.

Again, I didn't check potential on anyone, but I liked the looks of Harpring and Twyman. I don't think I'm going to like the looks of the two guys I'm going to end up with at 52 and 54....both picks are still available by the way.

Damn, I wanted Harpring. But oh well, Twyman could also turn out to be decent.

I'm intrigued by my 2nd selection:

Keyon Olajuwon PG 20 6'2'' 181 C+ C+ C B D B

If his potential is decent he could turn into a nice undersized SG in a year or two. If he gets to B- B- C B D B, which isn't entirely realistic, he could even make my rotation...

A lot of people passed up on Ed Wallace PG 22 5'7'' 196 C B B- B D+ D  , hopefully that potential is real or we look pretty stupid. Someone must have checked it though, or else he would be the steal of the draft.... potential anyone?

Let's just say I checked and didn't think he was worth the #26 pick...

don't get me wrong, but a PG with C handling raises some alarm bells for me. He'll need every bit of potential to ever get backup worthy.

And what's so intruiging about Wallace ? A 5'7 guy, mediocre handling, guess he can have shooting and defense ratings as much as he likes, his size will keep him in trouble all his career.

Like it did Earl Boykins?

Go for attributes.  Worry about size later.

what if you have neither ... and miss potential on top (which I assume they didn't know) ?

when you're drafting this late, bpa is always the best way to go.  always.  we can argue about whether he's the bpa, but bringing size into the equation would be a mistake.

yes, agreed. I think going by BPA, especially in the 2nd round is the best possible thing to do.

really? you think taking the best available player with pick #37 makes sense? who would have thought ...
Wink

but the point is, a 5'7" PG with no potential (at least from what we know) and mediocre ballhandling shouldn't really be the BPA at any point in the draft ...
