This franchise is just cursed. That's the only explanation.

Mehta totally shattered the all time record for rebounds per game in a season, averaging 15.9 to eclipse Okafor's 15.1. And as usual, he led the league in blocks and was Defensive POY and 1st Team.
And that earns me a first round matchup with a 60 win team.

Vince Keogan dropped 60 points on the Clippers but still 13 points short of the record held by Yao Ming.

Mehta (along with Dwight) is the perfect example of how players develop in FBB. He was a good player his first 4 years in the league. He's an all-time great now. One of the top 2 defensive bigs in SSBA history IMO.

Mehta was all-defensive 1st team in his 3rd season... In his 5th season he was putting up 21.4/13/4.4. He's been pretty dominant his entire career. Also, Dwight always seems to be your representative sample when you make this argument. It's just as often (and probably moreso), that a star is "born and not made" (i.e., great out of the gate, or within just a few years of entering the league). Check out this year's MVP Milner for a counter-example -- by his 3rd year 18.1/9.4, with 6.6 rbpg and just 2.4 topg. He's been terrific his entire career. IMO, the statistical balooning has more to do with the original, higher-rated players, retiring than it does with some sort of 2nd growth spurt.

possible but how do you explain quincy peters for example. He underachieved his whole career even with the magic. Then i got him for a bargain and didnĀ“t trust him enough to be a starter. in his second year with me he had to be the starter and developed into a 20+pts scorer. Not one not even me expected such scoring numbers but he even improved his ratings in my 3rd season and scored 30pts avg for me the next season(even then no one wanted him crazy ) But to top all that he was also a great rebounder and passer.

Mehta was all-defensive 1st team in his 3rd season Mehta might have been all-defensive 1st team his 3rd season, but SSBA awards mean jack didly poo (Michael Robinson just got first team all-ssba! Does anyone believe it's deserved?). He's a decidedly more well-rounded player now than he was at that point (14.1 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.4 apg, 3.4 bpg is nice, but it's nowhere near 20.8 ppg, 15.9 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.0 spg, 4.2 bpg). he took his strengths (rebounding and shotblocking) and improved on them, while becoming a legit #2 option, and a good passer. Had KingsGM drafted him, he would have been traded after his first season of 10.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 2.1 bpg and 41% shooting. IMO, the statistical balooning has more to do with the original, higher-rated players, retiring than it does with some sort of 2nd growth spurt. Who was retiring in 2010 that precipitated Dwight's growth into absurdity? There were incredible statistical players when we started (Yao and KG), and there are incredible statistical players now (Hakeem, Dwight, Mehta, etc). Did Kyle Macy explode because someone retired? 7.6, 4.9, 8.4, 15.2, 12.8, 18.6 are his per game averages in his first 6 seasons, culminating with his 6th season making all-league first team.

Mehta might have been all-defensive 1st team his 3rd season, but SSBA awards mean jack didly poo (Michael Robinson just got first team all-ssba! Does anyone believe it's deserved?). So you ignore the part where I quoted his unreal stats from his 5th season? What about the two guys who were the cornerstones of your championships, Emeka and Pettit? How about Mike Evans? And you mention Robinson -- how about him? How about Eddie Uner? Again, I'd say that stars are typically born, not made, and the vast majority of players don't have this super 2nd wind of improvement. When you see it, it's typically due to a change within the team or change of teams (Macy, for example (although two years ago he registered 7 apg)). If anything, these discussions prove that there are no generizations to be made regarding how a player develops.

Oh, I'm not trying to say all players develop this way. What I'm saying is that people tend to get too frustrated when guys with high potential don't develop right away. High potential doesn't mean that they are going to be great, but it means they're going to steadily improve for a long time.
Obviously, there are both people who are dominant right off the bat, and those who continue to improve well into their later parts of their careers.

Oh, and there are people who don't improve at all. Like dozens of my "young prospects".
For example.

Congrats to Hakeem winning ROY, he deserved it really. From POs i expect nothing, if we can some upset, great, if not, still great, this team just started rebuilding, so getting to POs is already a big achievement. I just hope well get a great guy in draft and hopefully sign someone like Macy in FA with our cap, we had a pretty good record so i believe we have more chances of maybe signing 2 great guys in this draft over other teams with worse record.
Lets see.

Jeremy Munson's another terrific example of someone who's still improving into his 8th season (every year for him's been better than the previous).

Same thing with Don Collins... He took about 3-4 years to hit his prime...

Finished the season with a 3-2 sim and broke through the Mavs stranglehold on the division crown. No injuries headed into the playoffs. Munson gets the Spurs only recognition for awards with a 2nd team all-league and 1st team all defensive. This really reflects the balance of my team. So a division and, with luck, a conference...and hopefully a league...titles will have to be the reward for my players.
