Sure I lost some cap space, but the FA pool is pretty bad at the moment and I couldnt have gotten a player as good as SJax through FA or the Draft, so this is a great deal for me.

Yeah, I don't think the Spurs will get anyone as good as Jackson in the draft.  And if you were going to trade Jackson, you might as well have drafted Terpening or Del Negro, IMO two better prospects than Hobson.

The Spurs now have the 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th picks. Not to mention the 7th and 15th which were already used. Holy sh*t.

Spurs are looking at their team in 2-3 years.  I will have 8 of the top 25 players in this draft.  (I own tomorrow's draft).

I can move Ginobili anywhere from the pg to sg to sf position depending on how my team comes together.  I still have George as an adequate sf for this year.

Yeah, but I think you're overvaluing picks past the late teens.  This isn't the real NBA where potential stars slip.  You're not going to find a Zach Randolph at the 20th pick or whatever he was.

We assume the Spurs have two players targeted with those two picks...

Spurs have an amazing 6 1st round picks in this draft.. And that is 6 guaranteed salaries for the next 4 years...

Overall, great trade for the Lakers...

Hey, anyone notice Ginobli is a decent point guard...  With an A defense...

I looked at the remaining draft pool and determined that the quality is abyssmal compared to early on in the draft. None of the guys left over will become stars, there could be a few solid bench players at most though.

I think that the decent bench players are few and far between too.

Ah...but there is always potential.  I may go bust over the next 4 years. On the other hand I may find 4 or 5 gems in my 8 draftees.

Either way once I hit 4 draft picks for this year I was going to be over the cap for the next 4 years.  Now I will have young guys who may develop and then can deal.  Or own their bird rights and be tough for several years.

Some gamble on FA, some gamble with trades.  I decided to gamble with draft picks.
