Pacers agree. Roy Hinson has the potential to become one of the best shotblockers here maybe the next metha but the chance to get 3 firsts and a guy who could possible replace shane in a view years was too much to resist. also shanes improved defense allows me now to start him at PF.
Finley was a great rebounder in the Pos and Shultz is also a great rebounding guard so i hope that i can survive in that cat.

I'm so-so on this trade for me, but this package couldn't land the kind of vet I wanted, and Hinson is young and a pretty good player. He gives me a starter at PF, and solidifies my frontcourt, with McKracken now playing backup PF/C instead of Newcomb and McLeod.
The reason I don't like this trade is the fact that I didn't see what Newcomb could do. He may be an elite shotblocker himself... I'm not sure about the 2024 Magic 1st. I think Dwight will still be around, and the Magic has stated that he'll keep him until he retires. Dwight alone will probably keep the pick out of the top 10 range. We'll see I guess.

Sick indeed, with Macy soon and others, you have everything to be Nets alike dynasty, altough shit can happen, look at Mavs, always close, but never there. Anyway good luck.

Thanks! I don't think I'm at the Nets' level, but I appreciate the compliment.  Smile But yeah, all you can do is put yourself in a position to win it -- there aren't any certainties. I wouldn't be upset to be a Mavs-like franchise; they won a championship eventually, afterall. Right now I have the 3rd highest win percentage behind them and the Nets. I guess my goal is to be 1st on that list (although Bods' hiatus from GMing makes it a bit less.) The other problem with having the kind of dynasty the Nets had is the salary cap, which really limits things (but is definitely good for the league). It'll be tough to keep this much talent together 5 years down the road.

But anyway, I do feel good that I only had 2 players coming from my own picks during my "down years" (one player was definitely 'Nique, but I can't remember if Sampson was my pick or the Rockets' pick, with Drexler being drafted at #3.) Other than those 2, my roster was filled through trade and FA. I think it's a solid job considering how decrepit my team was after the championship year.

Good luck to you too  Cheers

There is no trade restriction on drafted players, so this one should be good to go right off the bat, I think.

And of course you want to be on the Nets level.  Razz

Nice.

And BTW that was no slight on you Nets. As you may or may not know, Bods gave up both Okafor and Pettit away after his last Chip, and then took over the struggling Pistons... No bad intentions in my words, believe me.

2.4 blocks and 8.6 rebounds in only 26 minutes.   Nice pickup, Hornets.

LOL, I know. I was playing on Derek's success with the Nets - not my current management of them! That team's run was quite remarkable - almost legendary.

And yeah, Hinson fits in that lineup quite beautifully - and the East should be looking up to the Hornets for a long time.

I think tho, that we might have been doing that even without this deal - noone has seen Newcomb play a game and he has some nice "starting point" ratings and what sounds like good potential. He might be just as productive/impactful as Hinson. Magic are starting to age and those picks might be quited good (especially in 24), possibly tipping the scales in Pacers favor on this one. Pretty good looking trade for both teams.

hinson had almost 4blks per game in the POs. If he can really play over 30mins a game i can see him lead the league in blocks and be a top 10 in rebs.
Newcomb maybe never will reach anything like that but i like his offense pot and like nets said magic are 1 retirement away of being a lotto team.

The pacers could certainly win this trade.  Newcomb was one of the guys I was targetting in the draft, and 3 picks are a LOT for comparable talent.  But for a team that looks like they're ready to win now, Hinson's going to be a great addition to the Hornets.

It was quite lucky as well.  The dynasty was built on about 1 million of cap space (more than the Hawks) to get Okafor, and the luck that I didn't get the #1 pick (which I would have used on Tanner).
