this trade rests on whether Amare resigns, from Phoenix's point of view...it's hard to structure a team around a player who may not even be there after this season.

if amare resigns... than the wiz has the edge...if not....you just gave away one of your best players for nothing.....

Wiz obviously got the best player in the deal, but....
If he doesn't re-sign then they just gave away their future.
I can definitely see the reasoning both teams do this.

All I can say is the Wiz better be better this year. Amare's 83 greed factor and 80 play for winner factor are going to make him want to play for the max, for a Championship calibar team.

But that was Phoenix's reason right there.... With Kobe, Nash, and Amare, they did not make the playoffs. And without any major improvements this year, they were probably going to lose him in the offseason. I liek it for both teams. Amare is needed to go up against the frontcourts of the East (how strange it is to say that)

Well, Lamar is a decent replacement for the Suns, so I really like if for them.

I wouldn't say that. they started off terribly, worst record in the league near the all-star break I believe. Then they acquired Kobe and they began to click. IMO they would have made the playoffs this year.

Yeah, they had Hunter, Amare, Marion, Q ad Nash...and were one of the worst teams in the L.
Which doesn't exactly bode well for me, seeing as though I have 5 stars...

So Washington wins in the Amare sweepstakes. Just gotta hope to re-sign him in the off-season. And you know that it will be for big money. Suns get some good stuff in return. Odom is not far below Stoudemire. The three picks(counting Havlicek) should more than make up for it.

And he deserves the max. The only issue I see is if Amare doesn't give an offer.
