warriors got really lucky and are the big winners of day 1.
Also well done by rockets and suns.
I have no clue why several FA took less money and changed teams.
the biggest surprise is that a backup PG got several near max offers and took a moderate offer from another team.

Welcome back, Kelvin.

I was really worried that Ransey would bolt, but I guess he really likes playing for an up-tempo club and for a manager who doesn't care about the turnovers.

Also landed a player who hasn't played a minute (in two years) for the LLE...crazy but true.

But when you put up numbers like he did last postseason (28 PPG, 10APG) you are going to get paid...

Plus, I gave a bunch of picks for him...I couldn't just let him walk away.

ok some rule updates for some of you guys:

i won´t tolerate more than 6 MLE bids per day. i think we had that as rule before but i couldn´t find it.
several gms tried to offer max contracts with 7 years even without having bird years. That isn´t possible only 6 years.
If you have more than 4.5mill capspace you can´t use your exceptions. i had to use the capspace and inserted 1 year offers. if you don´t want to use your capspace don´t use your exception before you can.

Well, I am very happy to bring everyone back into the fold, even though it was quite expensive.
Very happy to pick up Dylan Pettit for the MLE, as he may be Gregory Holman's replacement in a year or two.

Ugh - every single one of my targets signed elsewhere in day 1. And if that wasnt bad enough, my plan to try and use McHale for S&T purposes on day 2 went down hill.

Was really hoping to strike some luck in FA to peak my interest in this league again, but it looks like I will be sporting a Kings-esque roster this year.

Shame of a day for the Nets, and I'm feeling alittle conflicted.

Typically, when I lose a free agent I want to keep, I feel a little pissy. Take the case of Kyle Macy. Drafted by his hometown team. Groomed carefully over five years. A big part of two Eastern conference finalists, where he was a starter and key component. And then this. Jumps ship for a bad team. Highest resigning rating was Loyalty, by a lot. Second, play for a winner - which New Jersey provided. Goes for the bigger bucks. I feel like calling him out as a greedy, unappreciative, punk runt.

But in this case, I don't know how badly I feel. Sure I wanted to keep him, but that annual salary is overpaying in my opinion, and any more than what I offered would have crippled my financial flexibilty over the next little while. I really felt like if he stuck around, the Nets were as close as anyone to being favorites in the East for the next few years at least. I guess I angered him by adding arguably the leagues best point guard and changing his position during the season. That and he must have wanted a chance to play with a potential MVP in Hakeem. So it goes - a shame but not so much. I haven't really - Schmalz aside, who I had to overpay dearly for - had good luck/success in free agency in this league.

I don't think this is a debilitating loss, and I should be able to recover with an MLE type talent, but looking over the FA list.....it's not as though it's an ultra deep class. I'll just have to roll with it.

Good luck with him Blazers, I suspect he'll play well but in Portland, but still leave you wanting a little more for what you're paying.

Magloire, that bitch, took a 36mill/4yr offer from the suns over my 66mill/5yr resign offer.
And if you think i'm disappointed, think again, I even regretted offering 5 yrs to him this morning, but it was too late to lower my offer. Problem is, his ratings look superb, but he's as underachieving as it gets and there was a reason minimum FA pickup Trump started over him. Look for him to mix one great game with 2 good ones and 7 mediocre outings. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to resign him for around 25mill/4yr deal (which is what he's worth) but there was no way I'd get him for that.

What hurts more is Tillis accepting a lame offer instead of resigning, as my frontcourt is aging.

Resigned Priddy (a must) and Buckner for cheap is decent, losing Amare is irrelevant, he was completely finished last season already.

Well, not much left for me to do but finding a gem who plays for little now, but my team's starters were pretty much set anyway before ...

Means I will have a couple of nice real name players surrounded by scrub nobodys, which was your case up until last offseason when you finally signed some guys.

Glad to get Mahorn.

I have a pretty strong frontcourt now. Wish I could have gotten Thummond, I offered 4.6 for 4 years then at the last moment cut my offer and he went for 4.5! D'oh!

7 mil and I need a PG
