Nice to see Mikel Chamberlain and his old ass back in Philly again. His my insurance if ever Vito Ramsay decides, at his own will, to decline during the TC and can no longer play huge minutes for my team. Chamberlain is SSBA's version of Kevin Ollie/Brevin Knight, I like those kind of PG. More Assists very less TOs.

A gamble.

He's young and (apparently) has potential.

A little disappointed in today's results. Had targeted a couple of kids, but they got scooped by a team with cap space, my MLE target took bigger bucks, and so on....

Echoes my sentiments of this promising FA as a whole - would have preferred a much younger stud than Schmalz, and I thought NJ would have been a much more desirable destination...but them's the breaks, and it was worth taking the shot.

Happy to have English back as a veteran fallback at the point and as trade fodder if need be. Gola's D jumps to B at SG as I hoped it would, and he has a good history during TC and might be a bit of a diamond in the rough. Schmalz needs to hold steady for a couple of years to make his big deal worthwhile.

Very much so looking forward to TC. Hoping for a few nice developments - namely with Wiggins and Macy - since my last one was no great shakes. A little surprise here and there from some unexpected sources would be nice too.

Gotta agree that Peck is very overpaid, almost severely, though I hope he works out for you Rockets.

Yeah I agree and thanks.

But in the end I offered max deals to:

Bertram Shultz
Mike Evans
Bailey Tobey
Magic Johnson
Steven Schmaltz

None of those guys were interested, so I asked myself who could I get on a max contract better than Peck...?

not to play spoiler, but ...

1. Wiley has had 4 TCs. He improved 5 net ratings in those since being drafted, one each in reb, def and handles, 2 in inside.
2. His true pot can't be any better than 60-65 now (basically the max after 4 TCs).
3. He has never averaged better than 9ppg, doesn't pass and shoots 43% / 75% / 34%
 Shocked

Now on what exactly would you justify a maximum contract ?

He was desperate to sign someone after all top FAs were gone after day one.  Peck is way overpaid just like Harris.

Its one thing to just want to sign someone, but when you likely could have gotten him at 60% of what he paid....

well, that's one thing i have to agree with the Rockets. Most likely he could NOT have gotten him for 60%.

But then again, for such an unproven guy and aging talent, a 1-2yr max deal should have been the most someone even considers. It's one thing to overpay for guys who produce big time. But another to do it for those who never did and maybe never will.

But then again, guys like Darius Perry were riding the bench for many seasons too before they suddenly started to get the numbers everyone was expecting for years and years earlier. So there's slight hope ...
