or you could take the save file from before day 1, temporarily re-run FA day 1 (and 2,3 if needed) ... and give him to the team that he signs with.

If he still didn't sign until day 3 then he can now enter the "official" FA on day 4 tomorrow.

much work, but maybe fair decision.

So letting a person use the same cap space twice is more fair than the blazers having a good chance of re-signing him?

And it's not like we can say "well, then I will nullify the contract of the guy who I signed".  Once you do that for one person, you have to do that for everyone.  Might as well just re-run the last 3 days if that's the case.

IMO there is no fair way to handle it.  Somebody's going to get screwed regardless.

of course you know that this team will loose than other FAs because they won´t have the cap space to sign Fa without bird rights...
That would completly change the FA pool...

so much for the clever part...

i can´t see where the problem is. there are still some teams who could offer him max contracts and if the blazers think he is worth it then let him offer a max contract.

well, i guess we agree that Cliff isn't nearly worth what he's paid now, and there's a chance he will never be. but looking at your (great) cap situation i would have given him at least one more audition offering max money on a BIG 1yr or 2yr deal.

Trying to get guys cheaper is a good thing to do (overspending sucks) ...

... but not after this complete FA day 1 desaster, where a dozen teams with big money got no signings, and Cliff is basically the only young guy left to shell out any big dough for !

I agree with you there, I probably should have offered him the big one year deal.  Oh well, Reggie Johnson's turn, as sad as it is to say.  If I knew that Cliff would have gotten that big of a deal I would have drafted a PF instead of my and everybody's least position of need PG.

I agree..

It is the Blazers who has his bird rights, so either way.. he has like a 90+% chance of resigning him. Unless he got "John Tylered." haha

Lets see if there is someone who would be risking to give a max contract for Wiley Peck.

I don't see a problem. And I hope that our hardworking commishioners won't waste their time on making extra efforts.

There is no fair way to resolve this situation.  Either Blazers can now offer max money or we turn back time and let somebody use the cap twice.  And it isn't fair to anybody, except the person who gets Peck, to re-run those days in FA.  This is the best and arguably the fairest option available.  Consider this a learning tool, just in case this happens in the future.  I should have done something prior to processing day 1 rather than waiting until after the day was already run.  I apologize to all the teams who had a chance to sign him, including myself, but this is the only solution that makes sense.

The fairest way to do this..?

Give him to the guy who needs him the most... ME!

I have the worst record of those who can max him out and my team sucks this year... Makes sense to me!

Very Happy

So far it has been a good fa for me. I missed days 1 and 2 because I was too busy...and got lucky that none of my players signed with other teams. I just have one more guy who i need to resign and then i am all set.

Except that some of us used the cap room we had available to sign other players...
to whomever signs Peck....  I would be willing to trade Max for him...
