trade have to be redone since the first round pick 024 isn´t availbale before we finish the season. During a season it is only allowed to trade picks you have in the next 3 years. so in the magic case he can´t trade a pick without getting one back.

I let this go through, I was planning on processing it at the end of the season, so I just left it in here.

how would you do that al and durren are both expiring and we had the rule no future considerations.
it can be only done if you seperate it into 2 parts and even that would cause troubles since i won´t allow that a first will be traded for nothing.
This trade makes only sense if the magic can be under the hardcap before the trading deadline.
the posted trade can´t be done since you can´t seperate it into 2 trades.
since you already processed one part of the trade i will talk with both gms but at the moment i tend to reject the trade and send the players back before sim 1.

I think that if we veto the trade, it would put a lot of things into different perspectives. One mainly, because the free agency should be re-done. Call me crazy but, that 7+ million off the Hornets cap hold would really affect the result of the whole free agency signings in the whole league. The Hornets would have had enough cap to sign 2 MAX players and some role players, as well. By doing this trade, the Hornets sacrificed his chances of being able to sign 2 MAX players. As a result of this trade, the Hornets only had a salary to sign only 1 MAX player and some role players.

Was this a newly instituted rule that was broken?  Why should I feel sorry that teams who either:
1) intentionally posted a trade that was against the rules
or
2) didn't do their due diligence to check whether a trade was valid

?

These are rules that have been here since day 1.  You cannot add future considerations, and you cannot trade assets (RE: draft picks) you do not currently own.  If this trade stands, IMO it's only because HawksGM had previously made a decision, NOT because it would screw over a team(s) who tried to sneak one past the rules.

Well, I guess you'll have to ask the HawksGM why he allowed it then. I asked him even before this trade was posted.

The only reason I allowed this trade was because I was going to experiment with a new rule, until all the things happened that led to my resignation.  I would let the trade stand because I did make that decision as commish, but it's not up to me anymore, that decision falls solely on Pacers and Derek.

If this was the only reason that the trade was allowed then it shouldn't happen.  If any rules are going to be open for experimentation then all GMs should have the same opportunity.

Exactly right, I was planning on officially opening it to all GMs before my computer crashed.  I was typing up the new rules as it crashed.  It just happened that Magic pmed me while I was in the beginning stages of the rules.  I said ok go ahead, I will be implementing the rule soon anyway.  This just happened before I got to put the finishing touches on the rule.  I jumped the gun by oking the rule, and it came back to bite the league in the ass.
