Obviously, anyone who expects Magic to carry the offensive load don't understand what kind of player he really is. He's a all round monster who doesn't neccesery need to score alot to lead his team to the win. Once he gets some serious help he'll be just fine.

I knew that he had talent, that is why I gave him a nice contract. I just didn't know that he would perform so well with starter's minutes. Gomes was playing poorly so I put Fisher in and there we go. His A:TO ratio is really incredible, as are his shooting percentages.

22 point average margin of victory during that sim, by the way.

Nets had an uneventful sim at 3-3. Nice wins over the C's (Tom failed to mention our game in his report) and Bulls, smoked the Lakers, and had really rough games against the Cavs and Suns, with a loss to the Pistons to boot. Give Taylor Bradley credit - alot of ROY material there - drafted in the last third of the first round.

Back to the rook report:
Mags continues to please: against the Lakers, love this line: 2pts (took only 5 shots in 34 mins), 16asts to just 2 TOs, and 9rebs.
McHale is starting to emerge with two big games this sim - 33/7 in 26mins against the Bulls; 29/14/2stls/2blks against the Suns. Little injury to Memo might prompt me to change the DC for the first time in 4 or so, and get him starting minutes for a sim.
Chris Cho increased his scoring average with a nice week, and continues to shoot 517 from the field.
Jordan Payton - gets limited minutes in the backup PG role, but maintains a 2.5 to 1 assist-turnover ratio. FG percentage is creeping up towards respectability, but isn't quite there.

*BTW, I traded Larry Hughes to the Suns in the off-season for cash. That musta pissed him off some - he went off for 30 against us.

...

just wanted to save you the emberrassement that C JEROME VEEN was leading my team, hanging 16/16 on Jim Finley, holding him to 14/12.

Just warrants mentioning ...

All while Finley was POTG shooting 4/7 and 6/7, swatting 3 shots and getting 4 steals with no turnovers AND holding your two listed C's Veen and Disco Dirk to 10/29 shooting (not sure who put the rest of the time in at the 4, but still).Laughing

Tom, you are the king of the silver lining   Cheers

well, even a bad loss can have some positives: at least you find out what's NOT working.

but then again, I'm perfectly happy with a surprise discovery like Veen shooting 5/13 and 6/7 against a proven C like Finley in 40 minutes. And 2 steals/turnovers prove than not only he was responsible for the 4 steals from Fin.

(btw, don't overestimate POTG. FBB uses a simple formula for than and doesn't care about winning of the game, impact on the result or even best performance of the night. And that formula is "highest pts/reb number - esp. double-double - with best stl/to/blk ratio". 4 stl, 3 blocks, no TOs almost guaranteed POTG for Fin.
And it wouldn't have mattered if the Celtics won by 30 or his opponent scored 45 on 21-24 shooting - if that opp would have 45pt, 9 reb and 3 TOs to no steals, Fin get's the nod.
POTG is pretty ugly sometimes ...)

numbers don't lie but the fact that this team played abysmally last sim makes him undeserving of getting such an award. Smile

Almost slipped through my attention:

Jerome Veen (you know, the guy I toly you about) started last sim, had 4 double doubles in 8 starts en route to 10ppg, 9rpg while "holding" opponents down to 17/13 and 49% shooting, and amazingly he was voted

PLAYER OF THE GAME for his effort against the Wiz' Steven Schmaltz: 40min, 22pts, 10rb, 2 steals, 2 TOs, holding Schmaltz to 26/14 on 37% and 5 TOs.
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/68-2.html

Now in SSBA, has there EVER been a POTG awarded to a player with NOT EVEN A SINGLE "B" in his ratings?
445 Jerome Veen C 23 7'1'' 290 C+ C- C- C+ C+
 Cheers

(and I promise, my Veen laudatio will stop now, but some things have to be mentioned. btw, i will pay for his extension to get bird years, so don't bother ...)
