well, Smith and Ward make a LOT of money and not too many teams can afford their salaries in the wake of the lowered hard cap. They're talented, no doubt, but the glory years of overpaying are most likely over ...
but on a sidenote: pick is not pick.
And after watching this league for an extended time I came to the conclusion that any pick below #20 is useless.
There is ZERO players that get stars after #20, like ONE player in every draft that get's a regular starter later, and SEVEN players you have to pay for 4 years that hardly see any minutes. So the chance for failure is 77.7 % there ... not worth the fuzz ...
the thing with smith is that I think he can strive with my inside focus. Dwight has benefitted well from it, so does Andris. I think Ward gives me an upgrade as a backup SG, and his versatility can make me play him at 1 too. overall, I'm happy with this deal. this deal I think benefits both team. I think with the cash system and all, it has helped team's over the cap. and I could care less with my team being over the hard cap coz I have no pick at all, which I really expected; thus the trading of it.
I wouldn't count out the fact that the picks lower than 20 are useless. I think with a deep draft, the pick 20 would be good. and not to mention there are sleepers as well.
