hard to say who got the better here, but i tend to give the edge to the Pacers here.

The get Marion, who at age 85 is a big improvement over the offensively limited Harris and will make a nice backup to Lenard and will surely play starters minutes at SF, especially once Artest breaks down again (he has missed 102 games in the last 3 seasons after all). Plus his defensive limitations don't get exposed as much at SF.

But the key here could be Wedge, since he's finally someone who can put up points at the forward slot. He's not exactly a better than average defender or rebounder, and declining fast than Ben Wallace, but given the Pacers play 3 on 5 most nights they'll take whatever they can get.

Scoring won't be a problem now for the Pacers, with Lenard, Marion and Wedge they can put up points galore. They won't keep many teams down on defense, but let's see how that ends up in the standings. Most likely they'll get a few extra wins to keep their pick from lottery.

I doubt the Sonics could have gotten more than expirings for Marion and Wedge isn't exactly on his way to stardom either. So the expirings and the pick could bring big dividends to Seattle. IF Marion doesn't pan out as planned they'll have a pick and tons of cap for the biggest FA class in SSBA history. Not bad at all ...

ok here my 2 cents

first i gave up 2 backups and a current late lotto for 2 improvements in my biggest problem zones.
i get 2 legit scoring options next to lenard and also improved a very strong defense( current 2nd in pts allowed). Even if shane isn´t the best defender he is better than costello and there aren´t many scoring C in the league anymore.
where did you see that shane is delclining? his ratings are improved since his rookie season and he once was a starter and main option.
And you completly missed the best part.
i expect marion to retire so i still have around 30+ mill to spend on the FA but with a better winning %. Even if marion is not going to retire i will have enough cap to make some moves. No way that a first could have done that.

now i will need to clear the logjam at SF with artest, peters and harris.

first Shane.

he improved 2 ratings in 3 TCs, first defense (B- to B+) and last TC reb (C+ to B-) while jumping between D and C pot.
in the same time his numbers went from 20ppg/10rpg to 14ppg to currently 10ppg, 7rpg, all numbers in around 30mpg. His shooting % went from 47% to 44% to 37% now.

if that's not a decline, what is it ?

then you defense: if you believe Marion is a defensive improvement over Artest, prepare for a surprise. He couldn't stop many people last season and he got older. You know Marion better than anyone else, and know which system fits him, but I want to see first if he fits the Lenard Pacers before I'm ready to hand you the title.

please check your stats one more time.
first season shane was an option and a starter on a weak team ...
second season he played backup at bothe PF and C everyone can tell you that it is impossible to score 20pts of the bench as a non option. And this season with wade and marion also taking some scoring away he dropped again.
I can´t see your logic behind the decline argument.

And i never posted that i consider me now a title contender. Just improved. Marion is an improvement over artest in scoring, rebounding, fg% and possible defense. i know that marion isn´t an A+ defender anymore but he isn´t bad either.

Shane Wedge was one of the most hyped players in 2015. 20ppg, 10rpg and nearly 2 blocks per, probably the best #19 pick ever.

Of course, his fellow options on the Sonics were Oscar "F-pot" Ferry and Rodya Novaseltsev, maybe putting those numbers into perspective. And of course the Sonics won all of 24 games.

In 2016 the far less talented Billy Cartwright came along with John Tyler and Wedge moved to a backup role. Billy averaged 15ppg and 7rpg, adding 0.5 blocks, yet he started over your 20/10/2 guy. Makes you wonder.

Now this season Tyler is gone, only Billy, now down to 11/7/0.3, still plays ahead of Wedge, as does the compareable (to Bill) Hubbard. Makes you wonder even more.

No, he didn't decline, he just played himself out of a starting spot. But maybe he pulls a Vince Carter on the Sonics and suddenly explodes for your Nets, I mean Pacers. It would make a feel-good story for one of the few bright spots picked after #10 ...
 Cheers

don't tell me you don't remember how VC decided not to care anymore while playing for the Raptors, basically forcing them to trade him. Unbelievable, I would have buried him on the end of the bench for a complete season.

And the worst part is, he got them to do it, so he got dealt to the Nets and Jkidd in midseason (for a few Williamses, Aaron and Eric, and a bag of potatoe chips or so) and literally EXPLODED back into the original VC. Highflying dunker, scoring big, defending, caring.

If i were from the Raptors organisation i'd probably use a bench player every time he shows up in the Air Canada Center to get him a "nice little welcome". And that suspension could be paid for, not officially of course. Until VC would rather tke a IL break before travelling back to Toronto ...

man, i can be nasty ...

sure, it must be hard to live in a foreign country. strange currency, metric system, those customs after every road game. almost 3rd world.

and he only got paid around 50mio bucks for that.

as i said, i would have told him to go home and call next month or year.

They got NOTHING for him in the end, just because he didn't want to play there anymore, and that's not worth giving him a nice little exit.

but then again, maybe that's why i'm no GM.
(oops, the one complementing VC isn't there anymore either ...  Lol 2)
