With the hard cap being at 87,600,000 (source) taking into effect this season, I think some teams could use some of my 41 million expiring to unload their BAD CONTRACTS.

However, in this deal I would like to acquire young talented players in return, or 1st round picks (preferably lotto). This is a good deal for re-building teams, as well as cap-conscious gm's who have tons of picks but may be facing hard cap which would mean forfeiture of their 1st round picks.

Also in the block are my 1st round pick this year, and the 2nd pick of the 2nd round. I'm also willing to package it with Seth Magliore or Andrew Lundy to move up, preferably mid 1st round in this year's draft.

sorry, not to play spoiler, but ...
the hard cap will come into effect NEXT season, as we only have started the 2017 season now !

I'm sorry, but how would dealing LOTTERY PICKS or YOUNG TALENT for expirings be "a good deal for re-building teams" ?

meh, its still 2017. we're still on day 170 and free agency day 5 is at day 185.

how that would be a good deal? well, first of, this players are non-option players who have decent numbers. Second, it doesn't necessarily mean it would have to be a lotto pick. young talent doesn't necessarily mean it would have to be franchise players coz I still have 'em.

sorry, no.

It's not "STILL 2017" it's "ALREADY 2017". It says day170 but the season switched to 2017 after day169. And the cap space will only change AFTER this season has been completed. Every salary you have now is what you will carry for the rest of the coming season, you can' let anyone expire now anymore.

ahem, there wasn't a change of GM for the Magic, right? This isn't your fisrt sim league season, right? Just curious ...

oh.. but still, it doesn't matter. we can just use trade exception.. still, its expiring players are better especially for team with bad contract. its better to have lost a pick (this year) than to lose some picks this year and the others more years he has the player tied up.

an expiring contract is better than a bad contract running longer ... agree
(and with "bad" I mean unjustifyable bad. Paying Emeka 115+mio over 5 years isn't bad, paying Donta Smith 57mio over the next 4 years is unjustifyable bad)

taking an expiring contract for a very bad long contract and paying a pick as a price ... well, if it's not a lottery pick then you are right, that's something to consider.

but why would you take on a very bad long contract AND a non-lottery pick, when we all know the (cough, cough) track record of picks below #15 ...
 Cheers

Yeah we just had the 2016 finals, so we are now into the 2017 offseason, approaching the 2017 draft and regular season.
Didnt know the hard cap was going down though, not that I am anywhere near close, but I think its kind of a good thing.

well, I'm not really looking for picks thats why I had it as a 2nd option. coz, what use would it be when I take a longer contract and have them forfeited instead?
