Premise of this trade was discussed during the offseason. Celtics wanted some small contracts with a couple of years left to avoid resigning guys and hitting the hard cap. Nuggets wanted to gain an expiring for a player not in the rotation due to drafting 2 bigs in the first round.

well, there goes the left tower of the projected "twin towers 2020" after the right tower wasn't even here for a full day. just great I still have my third tower in carlos ...
 


honestly, the best part of this deal is probably the $10 we both earn here.

too bad we don't have a preseason where I could have put Ronny out there to battle the big boys, but after watching him for 3 seasons (and his rating staying at +/- 0) I think I know what he is. A nice rebounder and occasional scorer (at a 40% clip) who plays miles better than his ratings suggest but won't see a starting spot maybe ever. And defense will never be his strength ... although it's only "D" because he probably has zero perimeter defense, he does quite o.k. in the post.

and this is probably a reason I value Robey over Roof. maybe he can't shoot, maybe he can't rebound but I guess he should defend and nothing more I want from him ...

any expiring for that guy is fine, he is a complete garbage with a long contract, and Nuggets dont need any good expiring, just an expiring.

role players, my friend, a concept that once you'll understand it might get you a title even here.
(but as long as you plan your rotation 8 deep your margin of error will stay around zero)

and Mavs, what is a "good" expiring ? One that can play? Those are hard to get and sure not for a 3yr contract that went down 4 ratings in his 2nd TC ...
