Day 2 FA has been postponed until tomorrow.  I may have to run days 4 and 5 at the same time to get it in before I leave for the trip.

As everyone has probably noticed the site .... has... been.... running...extremely....slow....today.

earlier this morning a drive in the raid array failed.  There was about 15 minutes when the site was inaccessible while a new hard drive was being put in place, and it's been running like a dog since then.  After the drive was put into place, the raid array needed to be rebuilt, and that's what's causing the sluggishness.

Because of that happening today, I didn't get a chance to finish day 2 FA before I had to leave for work.  So it's going to have to be run tomorrow.  Sorry about that.

I know database servers can be a dog sometimes, but one bad disk bringing our FA period down is pretty lame. Just imaging we were paying customers ...
Smile

btw, couldn't we move our forum to a VMware host server and go completely virtual?

lame?  if a drive fails and all you get is slow performance, that's quite good Smile

What do you mean vmware?  this site (as well as my other personal sites) is already on its own box....

hardware problems will always happen, unfortunately.

Guess 32Million, 2  year deal wasnt enough for childress. That like 5 more a year then raps, and I overpayed ALOT

I cant stand this free agency. I came in with a approach of not overpaying for people, Giving them what they deserve, And I get screwed.

Well, his loyalty and his play for winner are both much higher than his greed.

I just love the fact that I was able to get him back on a resonable contract.

nice, i lost out on Boozer but actually I had little alternative in my FA.

Sure, I could have thrown 16+ mio at him and signed him back. But that would also mean three things
- I enter hard salary cap hell
- I have just 3 frontcourt guys capeable of playing big minutes (Sampson, Boozer, Strait)
- and I am not even allowed to sign minimum fillers anymore to give me backup big men

So I tried to stay within the hard cap (having 12mio to spend) with my offer to Boozer and either sign some backup big men as well or - even better- hope he waits another day before signing. I knew the Knicks were desperate but I hoped Booze would take the longterm offer from me ... or I can increase my offer for DAY3. My current offer beat everyone else and I couldn't see the Knicks offering more than a 1yr deal.

Didn't happen ...

The Knicks shelved out 14mio for 3 seasons (killing their FA plans for next year, where they could have found an even better FA class). Booze will get them 10 more wins, dropping the draft pick a few spots in the process. Great plan.

I knew Boozer's loyalty (67) existed only on paper and that in reality his greed (2) contolled his actions, but nevertheless i'm disappointed.

It may not matter too much since I wouldn't have started CB anyway, but with Sampson/Strait/Doleac my frontcourt is pretty thin and Dirk may have to help out there (unless I manage to find another big man to play backup minutes). So right now it's just a wakeup call, but beware any injuries ...
 Confused

was kinda hoping to re-sign Gooden and really Dial. I offered both a 2 year deal, but I'm so close to the hard cap that I didn't want to go over Sad
