The hard cap started this sim, and already we have the first violation.  The clippers have gone over the hard cap, and currently have their 2016 draft pick frozen.  They cannot move it, and if they do not get under the cap by the end of 2015 (NOTE: getting under the cap when contracts expire at the end of the year is not before the end of the year) they will forefeit the pick.  Furthermore they cannot make a move that will add additional salary, outside of signing draft picks and minimum signings.  They can use their 2015 draft pick (since the hard cap didn't exist in 2014).

Congratulations, Clippers, for following my footsteps.

Only I am silly enough to not FREEZE the pick in DJSL but penalize cap violators by TAKING their selected player regardless if he moved below the hard cap. That said, I'd rather violate it here in SSBA ...

The real penalty isn't the draft pick (as most teams with that high of payroll are decent teams), but in the inflexibility in making moves.  That's why I allow you the rest of the season to get under before you officially forefeit.

I don't care much about that cap now. I need to win one more championship!
If things don't go well... this team may blow up during the season.

Don't get me wrong but your team is closer to exceeding the hard cap than to win a basketball game.
Ouch ...
